Just a quick note on the new Image Hosting Feature:

There will be an increased load on the server when it is also hosting images. It would be a good idea to keep images down to a maximum of 640 pixels in any direction (IE: 640X480 Maximum). The images remain on the server, even though you might delete the thread. You can do your own housecleaning simply by clicking on the "Insert/Upload Image" link, clicking on the "View Gallery of Uploaded Images" link, and clicking the "Image Options" link under the image. It has options to rotate and delete the image. The option to use an outside image hosting service like PhotoBucket still remains. This is a good option if you are concerned about conserving David's resources. Once you have "tested" the new image uploading feature, you might try testing the removal procedure as well.

Resizing images is easy and there are a good number of FREE image resizing programs out there if your system does not already have one. I use VSO's Image Resizer: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/ It's free for non commercial use. It will do batches of images and will rename them for you as well.

By the way, David has added the Image Feature to the PM system as well. Just don't all jump at once to try to wear it out! :)

I'd be sure that David has a handle on it, as usual. It's just another task on his long list. I'd recommend that we think about some housecleaning on a periodic basis. Maybe two three or four times a year, depending on how many pics you upload. I'm sure he will do some purging as it is needed. Just remember the work he does when it comes time to contribute, whether it be monetary or time.

The main point here is that the images remain, even if you delete the post. That may change, but I'm sure this is the way it works for now. The posts really doen't use up much space, but collectively, the database must be huge by now. It's also good to keep the size of the images down, since they will create more load on the servers and take up more space.

I don't really delete many posts, since I'm sure that everything I say will be used for refeence and be useful for an eternity! :)
