Where can you find out how old a Perazzi is? Is there anywhere you can enter the serial number to find this out?

Not always correct. My 1976 Perazzi MX8 is suppose to be a type 4, by the book. It is, in fact, a type 3.

I just dumped the numbers on another thread

    Type I 30000 to 33250
    Type II 33250 to 35450
    Type III 35450 to 51242

The Type II and Type II forend/foreams will generally interchange although the barrel lug/auget has a slightly different design

If you have proof mark "AB" then yours is a 1976 Proofed Perazzi

    And definitely a Type III.

The Type IV is visually easy to see with the two hex head screws attching to imbedded barrel nuts in the forearm wood, from the backside of the forend iron - looking forward.

Both the Type II and Type three forend irons will attach to the forearm wood of each type, attaching with two small screws perpendicular to the forend iron.

Same attach for Type I but all the dimensions on the barrel lug, and forend iron are different from II and III.

None of the I, II or III forearm wood work with the IV.
