I'm trying to get the recoil pad off my wife's Perazzi MX2000RS. I know the pad is glued on, but it appears also to be screwed on. I can see two holes in the pad where screws normally would be, and when I look down in there I see something silver, but neither an allen wrench nor a screwdriver (phillips or flat blade) will engage.

Does anyone know what is in there? What do I need to do to get the pad off?

    Hello Ted

Are you sure it’s glued? The reason I ask is that I ordered my new Perazzi with a screwed on pad – when the gun arrived I tried to take the pad off (ie removed the two screws..). It wouldn’t come off!

I put the screws back in to tackle the job another day…

Anyway, I had another go the other night…I took out the screws and tapped the hard rubber part of the pad with a chisel…

    The pad popped off.

The reason it didn’t come off easily is that a small bit of stock varnish was under the pad, acted like glue.
