    My new Mirage is marked AZ which indicates 1990 vintage. Serial munber 79XXX. My question is this a type 3 or 4?

    Should be type 4, the serial number brake was around 52,000 and change. Look for two set scerws in face of forend pivot surface.

    Left set is type 4, right set is type 3.

    Those would be "fixing" screws, not "set" screws. Different functionality.
