I think there were actually 3 types,

Grand American - unsingle (combo) as MIA shows.

Grand American 2 - scalloped receiver, MX8 type ribs, topsingle also combo.

Grand American 88 - scalloped receiver, MX3 type ribs, topsingle also combo.

Grand American 2 typically had 2 triggers, GA88 typically had internally selective trigger.

Good MX8 reliability, just different cofigurations.

Also.. the GA1 was a top single.. Most of the ones I've shot or held were a wee bit barrel heavy.. Some like that.. some don't.. The GA88..which was no more than a MX3 Special with a MX-8 receiver is my favorite out of the bunch.. Those are REAL hard to find.. I especially like the 6.4mm high rib on them..

Pretty much the same as an MX-8 except that the GA has a tapered rib as opposed to the straight rib on the MX-8. (Obviously, the GA was available as an Unsingle where as the MX-8 was a top single.)

Gene, it tapered from 11 to 7 mm.

4 mm is usually on certain field guns.

OK- thought there was one that really tapered from like 11-4 -- or at least at the time I owned it I thought it did

I remember people saying it tapered too much and that was bad for hitting the target- (BS)

I have a 32/34 unsingle for sale, original chokes, and no porting.
