need help does anyone know how to remove the mid bead on a Perazzi barrel. The last time I tried I could not remove it. I know this sounds simple but I know some barrels are pressed in, some are screwed in but not sure about Perazzi beads. Front bead is screwed in what size tapping and what size is the mid bead tapping. thanks in advance for any help. Frank

    Frank,

The Perazzi mid bead IS pressed in...never to be removed. It'll need to be drilled out, hole opened up with a #45 drill, and threaded with a 3-56 tap.

Replacement Perazzi mid-beads are threaded 2.5mm. If you use the 3-56, then you can use America style mid-beads.

I just replaced my mid-bead a couple of weeks ago. Got the replacement from Whiz. My TM1 has a 2.5mm screw in mid-bead. To remove it, use a pin vise. If you don't care if the bead gets buggered up grab it with a pair of pliers and unscrew.

Lucio told me he takes a chisel and hammer and just knocks them off. When I looked at removing mine, I didn't like the idea of either marking the rib or leaving the divot behind where it was pressed in so I left it as is.

I just put clear tape over the bead, then filed it down to the tape.
Plugs the hole, and WTF..it could always be drilled out.

Steve: Brownell's sells the ivory inserts and a square headed bit used to remove the outer sleeve.

If anyone would devalue a Perazzi barrel due to the mid bead, then some's been drinking too much Draino.

    I have probably installed 100 threaded mid-beads in Perazzi's.
