    DiHydrogen Monoxide.

A pervasive chemical, found all around us.

is also known as hydric acid, and is the major component of acid rain.

    contributes to the Greenhouse Effect.

    may cause severe burns.

contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.

accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.

may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.

has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

can cause instant death if inhaled in high concentrations.

    This stuff is dangerous!

Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:

as an industrial solvent and coolant.

    in nuclear power plants.

    in the production of styrofoam.

    as a fire retardant.

in many forms of cruel animal research.

in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.

as an additive in certain junk-foods and other food products.

    This is SO OLDDD!!!

My daughter did this exact same thing as a science project, in psychology, when she was in the seventh or eighth grade. She had about 80% of the people she asked sign on to a petition she was "preparing to present to our U.S. Senators and Representative". She asked both at her school and in a few other places. Among the very few who did not sign there were only a very small number who even recognized that she was talking about WATER. A handful of the kids in her school did not sign because they "were told by their mother/father not to sign anything till the parents had a look at it".

Among those who DID sign were a number of, what are considered to be, well-educated adults. This included a number of teachers.

Like I said, she did this project in seventh or eighth grade. She is now one year past graduating with a B.S. in Biology and she is now working as a wildlife rehabilitator in a large size center in Pennsylvania. The last count I heard from her was they had 302 "patients" at that time a few weeks ago. My daughter is in charge of the volunteers who make this center operate. So, di-hydrogen monoxide has been a target of being banned for at least nine or ten years now!

I guess some people will never get themselves educated. "Jay-Walking", as shown on the Tonight Show, is a lot closer to the truth that many people would care to admit. Frightening isn't it?
