I'm with Barrelbulge. I occasionally use CCleaner.

Other than that one, if it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

CCleaner is a freebie whereas I think the majority of the other ones that advertise want some of your money.

Never tried CCleaner but others I have witnessed did more harm than good. Your registry can become cluttered or damaged over time and the only good fix is a good hard drive scrubbing. Save important data, reformat hard drive and install operating system and programs.

If you own a new enough computer rather than a candidate for a door stop the above is my best solution. Otherwise it is time to consider an up to date machine.

Don't do it! Free downloads usually contain toolbars and who knows what else.

Wondering why your 'puter is slowing down?

Could it be due to temporary internet files, cookies, recycle bin, history, and a whole bunch of other unnecessary junk?

Go to www.ccleaner.com and download the free cleaner and run it!

You will be amazed how much faster that old clunker will run!

Just look for 'disk cleanup' in your programs if you are running Windows. Bill

It's a little work, but the best way to give new life to your computer is to buy a new hard drive and transfer your files and applications to it. It's usually cheaper in the long run and you almost eliminate the chance of a hard drive crash.

If you have data on a system that is valuable you will consider doing this.

YA YA YA YA YA about backups, most folks do not have raid systems and sometimes in my business, the time between backups can be extremely costly. Most people throw away perfectly good computers, just because of a replaceable hard drive. The computer biz makes a killing, from the masses.

BUT, then we don't play games on our systems either.

CCleaner does a great job. One I use weekly is SuperAntiSpyWare (See URL above)

I bought it for life after it saved me several times. If you are having problems with pop ups, just minimize them and then run SuperAntiSpyWare, reboot afterwards and MANY problems go away.

    Take care.
