Patterning a shotgun

    A rest is important for determining the point of impact. It is not necessary for accurate pattern analysis, but it is easier to shoot 10 rounds from a rest than standing. I usually pattern at 35 yards, but 40 or 30 yards will work well. I have spent a lot of time patterning shotguns and have learned relatively little from all of this effort. Counting holes is not a lot of fun.
