I just joined the Patriot Guard Riders. Unfortunately in North Georgia there aren't very many reasonable distance rides thus far. My question, has anyone here participated in a PGR ride? What was your impression?

Blade, they are a very worthy organization. They escorted my grandson home 2 years ago from DFW airport to our home about 120 miles away. We have a pop of about 100,000 and about 50 members of the PG are very active around here. Also worth noting is that when they aren't doig escort duty, they all chip in for charitible work (habitat for humanity) and ride for the pink. A bunch of great guys.

I have ridden with the Southern Oregon chapter and have stood guard with them at a local memorial service for a fallen hero. It is a good organization. Thank you for your participation. You need to get a BIG American flag and figure out how to mount it on your bike. Keep it furled when riding at speed and have it quickly demountable for carrying to set up a flag line. Mark

You might want to move this to off-topic, so you don't take grief for a non shooting thread.

Nah, leave the thread where it is.

It would be one that belonged in my "Epic Stuff" category if there was one!

You'll not be dissapointed in your participation if it is like the Patriot Guard in Indiana. I feel a duty/responsiblity to actively participate and feel it is an honor. The PG ONLY attends a funeral and stands a flag line when ASKED by a close family member. They never just show up unannounced. Every participation at one of these events has been a solumn and respectfull display of the deceased military member's service to our country.

    Welcome aboard.
