I have a G series 92-- serial number pat that has recently failed to cock.
When I watch the machine it will stop oscilating (sp?) when half cocked and make noise like the relief valve is blowing on the hydraulic system. I changed oil this spring and even flushed the old out. It has been working fine until last weekend. If I put it in the manual postion so it cannot oscilate it will cock okay, but with some hesitation and squealing. Acts like the pump is weak or the relief valve needs adjusted? or ?????. The parts list, lists a filter? but I have yet to find it, plus never heard of a filter. The shaft has been greased and it takes about 800-1000 targets before it gives any trouble.
Any suggestions, I'll probably call Pat this week.
    Thanks in advance. Mike

We changed the oil in one of our Pat-Traps and the throwing arm slowed way down with a herky-jerky movement. We took the by-pass valve apart and found foreign material that looked like a small piece of target stuck in the valve.

After cleaning the by-pass valve everything returned to normal.

Actually Chuck is the man when it comes to that kind of stuff. He's been at it longer than his son.

If your pump is belt driven check the belt.
