Pat - The thousand target minimum for "current and past year"... because the Dixie is so close to the beginning of 2011, are the 2 years 2010 and 2009 ?

Pat, another question. If you're a senior vet with no targets for the past 2-years due to medical problems, what class and yardage would the person be classified too?

    regards,

    Joe

In some cases where a shoot is in the beginning of the new year, the previous year is the prior 2 years. However, hopefully Pat can give me the definitive answer. I was planning to attend the Dixie but unfortunately do not have the minimum required rounds if you look at 2011 and 2010. That can save me money by not attending vs. shooting 23 yards and class B in singles and doubles.
Pat.... you can jump in here at any time.

For singles and doubles, 1000 targets in the current shooting year beginning 9-1-10 and the previous target year (last 17 months for the Dixie) are required to avoid penalty. The penalty for singles and doubles is class B or higher. No special penalty consideration is given to category shooters for singles and doubles.

For handicap, 1000 targets in the current or previous year are required to avoid a penalty. The penalty is 23 yards or the assigned handicap yardage, whichever is higher, for non category shooters and Juniors. The penalty for Lady, Sub Jr, Vet and Sr Vet is 20 yards or the assigned yardage.

The first two days of the Dixie Grand are preliminary days. Targets shot these days can count toward the minimum target requirements. You must return to the classification desk and be reclassified if you use the preliminary days targets to meet the minimum. Targets shot after the preliminary days cannot be counted toward the minimum target requirements.

Joe- If you have no targets for the last two years, the above explanation will give you your minimum classification. If your record three or four years ago shows that you were then a AA shooter, you could be classified higher than B in singles and doubles.
