    Hello:
My father fought on Okinawa during WW ll. He passed away in 2003. He had a military funeral, and my mother received a folder flag which we placed in a nice presentation case. My dad's ashes were also given to my mother. She placed his presentation case with the flag along with his urn on top of her dresser along with a Rosary wrapped around the urn.

Shortly afterwards, my mother started telling me that strange things started happening at her condo. Sometimes she would wake up around 3am and the bedroom light was on. Sometimes, when getting out of the shower or watching tv she would see shadows and Lights flicker at times.

I had an electrician friend of mine check out her electrical and he said everything looks good. My mother is starting to give my brother and I some of her things as she is getting up in age. She gave me the urn and the flag which I also have placed on top of my bedroom dresser.

My mother says since she gave me the urn and the flag she no longer see's shadows or lights turning on, or see lights flickering.

Everything has now started up in my home. My wife and I were watching tv one night and a dark shadow figure walked past the tv. My wife and I were shocked and both said what the he-- was that?

We are also experiencing lights flickering in our kitchen sometimes now too. I called my friend over and he also said nothing appears to be wrong with my electrical.

We don't feel threatened at all, but it makes us uneasy. Have any of you ever experienced anything similar when an urn or a flag like this has been brought into your home?

My father recently visited his home place and its a long story but with descriptions provided by the people now living there it was his sister.

My grandfather was in a severe accident. It was obvious, he was not going to make it and he knew it. At times he would come close to being conscious. I could get a hand squeeze or head nod. I asked him to contact me if he could after passing. He nodded and squeezed my hand. His grandfather contacted him from the grave which is another long story. One that I did not doubt one bit. I am still waiting 6 years later. There was no greater loss in my life and no two people any closer. I fully expect him to contact me. May sound dumb or stupid but its the way I feel.

Take advantage of the situation. There is a reason for this activity.

Not when items were brought into the house, but when Uncle Jess was bedridden here in the house, just before he died. I never met Martin's grand dad, nor have I ever met his other uncle, Frank (Jess' brother). Frank occupied the upstairs of this house, which is where Martin and I have our bedroom, bath, and office. I thought Martin was home one day, since I heard a man talking in the office, and distinctly heard what he said (an old timey phrase...forgot what he said). I went in there to flirt with my husband, and nobody was there. Now it's not unusual for Martin to come home in the middle of the day, since he owns his own construction company.

When Martin came home, I told him about it. He asked me "What did he sound like?" Then he asked me "What did he say?". Upon answering both questions, he informed me that it was Frank, as he used that phrase often, and he also souned like that. We would hear someone in the office often after that.

About 2 weeks before Jess passed, Martin and I were sitting in the driveway at night, when I saw the third apparition that I had seen in my life (first 2 were in Gettysburg). An elderly man in overalls, who looked a lot like Jess, walked from behind the house to in front of the car and disappeared like a mist dissapates. I wasn't afraid, since he appeared friendly. Again, I described him to Martin (he was busy looking at the weather on his cell phone at the time it occured), and we both concluded that it was his grandpa, especially because I had seen pictures and because of the overalls.

They were waiting for Jess. Jess would actually talk to them both during periods where he was just falling asleep from the meds. He told them "Yes, I'm ready to go home, take me with you", then he turned around and told us that he was going home. When we asked him what he meant, he said that he was talking about going to heaven.

After Jess' funeral, everything stopped. His brother and grandfather, who had lived in this house with him, had come to escort him. I am convinced of that.

I believe that these things happen. Years ago, I went through a stretch of about a week where I missed my grandmother a lot. I use to spend a lot of time with her as a child. From the age of 10, I gave her the same perfume each year on her birthday.

One day, I am in my gun room reloading shells and I start smelling the perfume that I always gave to my grandmother for her birthday. I called my wife to come downstairs and I asked her if she smelled anything? She said I smell some type of perfume. I told my wife that I believe my grandmother was visiting me. Obviously, there is no way to prove what I am saying, but it made me feel a lot better after I smelled that fragrance.

My mother told me a story of something that happened to both her and my father. My grandpa was ill and in the hospital and the doctor did not think he would make it. They came home to get a few hours rest before returning to see him and they had just crawled into bed and turned off the lights when a figure of my grandfather was standing at the foot of the bed. My father shouted "Dad" and the figure was gone. Both my parents saw this. Within minutes the phone rang and it was the hospital calling to say my dad's father passed away.

I have a similar story about my grandpa, which I will keep to myself.
To you non-believers, your day of reconing is coming. I'm prepared for judgement, are you?

Recurvy- You have met my wife several times and she always claims her dad is at the house taking care of things. Well he was from Denmark and when he was alive he was a first class tool and diemaker and was very proud and particular about his tools.

To this day when I am working on a project around the house, I'll walk away for a minute and come back to what I was doing and my hammer, screwdriver, pliers or whatever I was using moments before would be gone.

I would look and look around the area and finally get frustrated and call Kay to help me find the tool and as soon as she walks in she bends over and picks it up right where I had been looking for it the whole time.

She tells me her dad was there supervising the job.

I don't doubt it at all, and thank you Dave for explaining why I can never find anything in any of my shops

When I was a kid I was always losing my Dad's tools, I guess he's coming back to get even with me

In 1972, living in Schaumburg, IL, was on my way home from work...on Golf Rd. (hwy 58) in a long slow moving line waiting to get through a stop sign. Was a cloudy wintery day and I looked out the car window and saw the clouds breaking up and some blue sky. I then visioned (don't know how to explain that but was like a dream...yet I was not asleep) a hospital room and there was my grandmother in bed and her life long maid and constant companion Besse was heading into the bathroom. There was a bright flash from the upper corner of the room and there was my grandfather. He had died long before I was born but I knew him from his pictures all over my grandma's house. He reached his hand out, my grandmother took it and they dissapeared together into the ceiling corner grandpa had come from. Then I saw Besse coming out of the bathroom...then the vision was over. When I got home, my wife said "your mom called from Texas and said your grandmother just passed away". I rushed home to TX to find out that Grandma passed away in a hospital bed (was there for minor health reasons) while Besse was in her hospital room bathroom. Never had anything like that happen before or since...never forget it.

When I was in my Sr year of high school my dad used to come in and nudge me awake on his way out the door to go to work at 430am so that I could get some running in before school as I was getting ready for the Navy as soon as graduation was overwith...he passed in 1999 and since then I have been awakened by a stiff two fingered nudge in the back of my shoulder more than a few times...even when I have just been laying there 3/4th's awake after the alarm has went off...I just say..OK! I'm moving dad!! still wish he was nudging me to go fishing or crabbing like the old days

My Lab used to drop a tennis ball at my feet so I would throw it for her.
About four months after her passing I was in my den watching television ,a tennis ball comes rolling in the room . I was the only one in the house at the time . Sends chills up my spin even now ,never happened again unfortunately.

deadpair, one of my experiences was with a dog. In my teens my best friend had a boxer named chief, was always slobbering around me, always had to rub against me. Well one afternoon I came home to eat and laid down on the couch and fell asleep. when I woke up my mother told me that right around 7:00 pm I was kicking my leg and yelling at chief to get away from me. I got dressed and went up to the school yard where we hung out and Bob was there and looked down in the dumps. I asked him what was wrong and was told that chief had died. I asked him what time and he said around 7:00. I never told him what had happened at 7:00.

Like Devi my wife and I both had quite a few experiences at Gettysburg.I have not yet seen an apparition. Mike

My wife and I had a dog that lived 17 years. Every morning she would hide underneath the bed and when someone came to the door or my wife yelled to come and eat breakfast she would run out from underneath the bed and hit her head on the underside of the bed. When she did this the bed actually shook.

A few days after we had her put to sleep, my wife and I were laying in bed on a Saturday morning and the door bell rang. We heard her run out from underneath the bed, the bed shook like it always did, but we could not see her though.

My wife and I felt comfort in knowing that she was still with us. This same thing happened on and off for almost one year, but sad to say it stopped for this past year.

I believe that when you die, you will see your family and friends and any pets that you once had.

The reason I am certain about this is that I flat lined in the ambulance two years ago after my wife found me in a pool of blood in my living room. I collapsed and she found me unconscious. She called 911 and they took me by ambulance to the emergency. While in the ambulance, I flat lined and saw my father and grand parents and my childhood dog. Long story short, I did not want to come back. I do not fear dying since that time.

Did you ever read the poem, "Rainbow Bridge?" It's about pets and where they go after they pass on. I believe it's true, and have a short story that illustrates why.

We had a dog when I was a kid, a black Lab named Tammy. She slept on the porch on one of those bathroom rugs, like you throw down next to the bath tub. She loved to play frisbee, only I could never teach her how to retrieve it right. She would carry it in her mouth with the "concave" rim upwards, and when she clamped her teeth on it, it would just flip up in front of her face obstructing her view, like driving a car with the hood up. She couldn't see where she was going half the time, and didn't seem to grasp why, despite all my efforts to teach her. She would just clamp down harder, and chew the frisee all up.

One time she was carrying it back, and a skunk came out from under the porch - in the daytime (bad news...usually means rabies). For whatever reason, it grabbed Tammy's rug, and started tugging it backwards off the porch. Tammy can't see where she's going, and is headed straight for the skunk. I start yelling at her, and Dad looks out and comes running with his Hi-Standard 9-shot .22 revolver, poking it out the door to get the skunk. Tammy is standing there, barking like crazy, and with her trying to shove her muzzle in the door and get inside the house (while Dad tries to keep her out, holding one arm out the door shooting). Long story short, dad empties the gun out, doesn't hit a thing, and so there we are, empty pistol, dog barking, and skunk still headed away with the rug (we should have just let it have it). But no...with the door closed, Tammy decides she can't let it go, starts playing tug-of-war with the skunk, and ends up sprayed head to foot.

Now, here's what interests me. I still have Tammy's chewed up frisbee, which was the glow-in-the-dark kind we got free from Burger Chef (which was a popular restaurant back then). But it was long ago, and I guess the day-glo chemical in it is all worn out. I keep it on top of my bookshelf, and every so often, it begins glowing again...and even kinda stinks a little bit (hold on...I have to go get my Ouija board...to dictate the rest of this story to you wackjobs out there who are still buying this.)

Sometimes this site is just too stupid for words. Thank you God, for keeping TS.com alive! Geez...
