Any one know where to buy parrafin wax?

My friend uses it to make fire starters but has a hard time finding it now. He buys 1 ton at a time.

I know this is way off topic but we have a great collection of smart people on this site and I figured someone would have some info on this subject.

    Thanks, Clif Adams

Clif, I don't know where you can buy it in those quantities, but it can be purchased in 1 LB containers any place canning supplies are found.

    APrice,

My friend started making firestarters as a hobby and now he sells them and apparently he sells a lot of them.

He said that he was getting the wax from a company in Texas but it is no longer available.

    He also needs Pine sawdust.

    Thanks, Clif Adams

Check the link above. The best place to look is the oil companies and refinery companies. Candle manufacturing supplies are also a source, but may tend to be more expensive. There are also suppliers from China and South Korea, but it doesn't pay unless you need a container full.

Paraffin was/is used in canning as an air seal over jams, jellies, etc.

Usually came as 4 1/4 lb cakes to a package.
