What the hell is wrong with her hair? I like her hair. Don't these people have a life?
All’s hair in love and politics
Lauren Beckham Falcone covers pop culture, style and all things feature-y for Boston Herald.

Yes, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has a lot on her plate: a pregnant teen daughter, a son on his way to Iraq, an infant with Down syndrome and a looming national election.

But must her hair suffer? With her long, straight, often pinned-up locks, Palin looks one humid day away from fronting a Kiss cover band.

“It’s about 20 years out of date,” said Boston stylist Mario Russo of the Alaska governor’s ’do. “Which goes to show how off she might be on current events.”

For readers who are rolling their eyes about this nonissue - get real. People talk about hair - from Mitt Romney’s perfectly sprayed coif, John Edward’s Breck do, McCain’s unfortunate combover and Barak’s No. 3 buzz cut.

We know the former Miss Alaska runner-up’s stance on on stem cells and teaching creationism in schools, but what’s her position on scrunchies vs. banana clips?

Palin herself told Vogue magazine, “A reporter once asked me about it (her appearance) during the campaign, and I assured him I was trying to be as frumpy as I could by wearing my hair on top of my head and these schoolmarm glasses.”

“The color’s not bad,” Russo offered. “But I did see a picture of her showing up someplace with a fried-out perm. I was like, whoa.”

Whoa indeed. The 44-year-old Palin’s pulled-back, I’m-too-busy-for-blowouts-and-a-blunt-cut look says more than Joe Biden on the Senate floor.

“It gives me the impression that she just washed her hair, pays attention to the front and throws up the back in a bun,” said Belmont stylist Leon De Magistris.

“She’s disheveled. It’s way too long,” he added. “She needs a cut.”

In fact, some argue Palin might be a little too long in the tooth for such tresses, sparking another squabble: to cut or not to cut after hitting 40. Yes, long hair evokes youth, but long hair after 40 can flirt with desperation.

Marco Evangelisti, owner of I Soci Salon on Newbury Street, said Palin needs a style update, but offered some age-old advice for now.

“Let your hair down,” he said.

Yes, that's important in a leader, having the right hair style.

    Just ask Mao Tse-Tung.

Maybe John Edwards could fix her up with the
guy that does his $400.00 haircuts.

Well to a woman, hair is very important. It is the center of power. (Attractive hair attracts men.) To a left-winger, hair becomes an obsession. John Edwards will be putting thousands of bottles of hair spray on E-Bay to pay for his divorce lawyer pretty soon.

Joe "the wannabe stallion" Biden has transplanted the hair of a wooly mammoth with no luck. What vanity these left wing stallions! Left wing males (if one can call them that) are typically metrosexual weasels who in a field of battle would cut and run like weasels with their tails on fire!

If ya sent Palin to Janet Renos' hair stylist she would still be a keeper.

"HEART" is also upset about using their song "Barracuda" at the RNC convention.

Biden's head looks like he has alot of hair plugs that didn't take too well and the hair at the back of the collar is chopped off straight across. Michelle Obama's hair is about the same length as Sarah's and nobody complained about that. Also, Michelle finally stopped wearing those high waisted dresses that look like they're out of the 60's. Let's hope she gave them to Good Will Industries so they can put them in the rag bag. Someone should be able to wash their car with them.

I think that it says good things if they're already stooping to taking shots at the way she looks.

And btw, I think that she looks just fine.
