SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - A growing number of voters have concluded that Senator John McCain’s running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, is not qualified to be vice president, weighing down the Republican ticket in the last days of the campaign, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

All told, 59 percent of voters surveyed said that Ms. Palin was not prepared for the job, up 9 percentage points since the beginning of the month. Nearly a third of voters polled said that the vice-presidential selection would be a major factor influencing their vote for president, and those voters broadly favored Senator Barack Obama.

In a possible indication that the choice of Ms. Palin has hurt Mr. McCain’s image, voters said that they had much more confidence in Mr. Obama to pick qualified people to serve in his administration than they did in Mr. McCain.

It's a CBS poll. I've already proven on other threads how skewed CBS polls are by exposing the methodology on one of their recent political polls.

I also have watched the news stations on tv put a huge spin on reporting when it comes to Palin. On a trip to Tennessee, I even saw one morning news station reporter admit that she spins her reports because she thinks it's fun, and she said that Palin is intelligent and competent.

Palin is the best hope he has. I love hearing her speak at a rally. She doesn't try to hider her true beliefs like most other politicians do. It is very refreshing. She doesn't come off as almost every other crooked politician saying only what the crowd at the time wants to hear (like Obama does).

I may not be laughing but because I have no kids or grandkids I will be amused at how many good old line Democrats will have totally screwed the lives of their kids and grandkids by not realizing their Party has been hijacked by Marxists and Socialists.

"the end of times" Brooks? I've heard it all my life..Didn't McCain's idol, Teddy Roosevelt start the Socialist movement with the advent of the graduated income tax? We'll survive Obama, and the next one after that..This is America, man..Nixon didn't bring us down, neither did Carter..Get a grip..Marxist!! Your outta your mind..BTW, Romney is the guy...Mizzou

Google marxist and Obama and enjoy your education.

As for Palin Vs Biden, No contest.

    IN THIS CORNER:

    From WNEP TV

"There is excitement in the air in Williamsport. Thousands of fans of both vice presidential hopefuls, Democrat Senator Joe Biden and Republican Governor Sarah Palin, are cheering on their favorites in Williamsport.

An enthusiastic crowd was on hand at Lycoming College to hear Democratic vice presidential hopeful Senator Joe Biden.

It all started around 2 p.m. at Lycoming College's Lamade Gymnasium on Mulberry Street. Several hundred people packed the gym for a opportunity to show their support for the Obama - Biden ticket."

AND WE HAVE IN THIS CORNER:

    From the AP

"Palin spoke Thursday night at Bowman Field, home of the Phillies' minor-league affiliate, the Williamsport Crosscutters.

"I'm sure you're all pretty doggone proud of the world champion Phillies," she exclaimed to the delight of the crowd that filled the 4,200-seat facility and included thousands more surrounding the stage set up in the middle of the infield."

    AND THE WINNER IS:

    "Several hundred people" for Biden

"the crowd that filled the 4,200-seat facility and included thousands more surrounding the stage"

    PALINNNNNNN!

Makes me very proud that I don't live in Pennsylvania. Nothing but racist, redneck bigots live there. The kind that elect traitors to the congress.

Wow, look at all the obamabots signing on to TS...welcome aboard kids! Doubtful you are going to score any points to this crowd who loves, supports, and respects the Constitution and USA. However, the past few months have been pretty entertaining with all you posers.

Without Sarah Palin, McCain would lose much of the conservative base. Those who think negatively about Mrs. Palin are the Kool-Aid drinkers who wait to be told what to think - and the NY Times is all to willing to tell them!

Universal sufferage is bs because the fools get the same vote as the smart and the productive. Perhaps they aer not so foolish. They have found a way to vote themselves whatever they want and to pass the bill to someone else.

Hello President Obama - Goodbye liberty!

highflyer, I would hardly call me, a resident of Pennyslvania, a racist bigot. My grandfather, who just passed away, was half black, and I have 2 black sons, and one who was stillborn. My daughter is of east-indian decent. There are several people in my neighborhood who also have mixed-race families, and our community is primarily republican.

Let's just tell it like it is. She hurt him. I hope it didn't hurt him bad enough to lose the election.

She HELPED him....if it was not for her the true conservative Repulbicans would have not helped him one bit....for she is what he is NOT

If you say she is inexperienced....back it up with real facts on who is EXPERIENCED and I don't mean sitting in on a state dinner gets you foreign policy experience....recommending and committee work is not experience either...

I have been to most states but Pennsylvania isn't one of them. I was taking Congressman Murtha at his word on his decription of the inhabitants. I figured since he lives there and the people elect him he must know. I seem to remember him slandering our troops too. If he is a reflection of Pennsylvania I would never want to visit the state anyway.

You're a human resource manager looking for executive talent. One applicant was the CEO of a small organization(mayor)then of a large organization (state) with thousands of employees and a budget of $6.6 billion. The other applicant is an attorney, former community organizer, and a former legislator. Replace Palin's name with Jones and Obama's name with Smith. Who do think would be hired???? Palin's not qualified, but Obama is? This is the NY Times' take? Is this the same NY Times whose bonds are now rate in junk status? Why does that not surprise me with their astute business model????
