Not a bad night weather wise. It was a little breezy when I set the fields up at 3pm but by 5 the winds had stopped. Maybe it's the calm before the storm. We'll see in the morning. Ray and I were training two new pullers tonite. With Chelsea leaving for the Army we need the help. I would like everyone to welcome Luke and Mike to the OGC family. They will be working the traps while Samantha takes the counter. Even with the better weather turnout was a little down. We had 24 squads total. Some of the top shooters for the nite are:

    Al R. 50x50

    Reid Cohen 49x50

    Gary Jose 49x50

    Rich Lewis 48x50

    Bill Parker 48x50

We had a tie for top prize winner for the nite with Gary Jose and Steve W. both winning 3. My 48 was good for 2 game hens.

New for 2010 we have moved the longbird jackpot shot to the 30yd line from post 1 on the practice trap. First lucky shooter drawn in the new year was young Thomas Wright (Dana's son). With $54 in the pot he got a straightaway and absolutely crushed it. I was hoping the longer yardage would help the pots grow. Maybe next week we can get someone to miss. I hope to see everyone at the membership meeting on Jan 11th. Dinner is at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7:30.

Team Oxford (Jack Aldridge and yours truly) managed a 2nd place finish in the 2 man 28yrd protection shoot. That team from Jersey was tough. Team Roland and Pierce was a no show (must have been scared). Team Jersey took first with a perfect round and Jack and I tied Curt Jones and his partner so we had to take it from them with a sudden death shoot off. Curt Jones and I had an intense (for me) back and forth shoot off for the Calamity Jane event. We started on the 24 and was on the 26 when I managed to nick one of Curt's misses for the win. Why I could shoot so well from the trap on the next field and not hit the ones coming from the trap in front of me is beyond me (Calamity Janes vrs Annie Oakleys). Must have had something to do with my buddy Larry Kirk knocking me out of Annie Oakleys twice. Then his partner Merlynn had to get into the act and knocked me out of the next one with the only target he hit. When they say there are no friends on the line, they mean it!!! I knocked a few of my friends off as well, Jack Aldridge, Shotgun Johnny, Curt Jones, to name a few. It was all in good fun.

We had our General Membership meeting for board elections and dinner tonite. The food was good. Thanks to Nancy and the ladies in the kitchen. Also, to Jim Roland for donating the turkeys. Ray Natale and I will continue in our positions and run trap for the 2010 season. Here's to a good year.
