That's what five weeks of Portland Occupy cost the taxpayers.

$316,000 in police overtime for most of the five weeks.

$450,000 in police overtime for "eviction weekend".

Add to that at least $50,000 in damage to the park, with some estimates approaching $100,000.

Over a half dozen park benches have to be completely replaced at $2500 each.

Soil has to be dug up, hauled off as hazmat, and replaced. Not only is it contaminated with human feces and urine, but also with large amounts of cooking grease, which has rendered the soil useless for plant growth.

The public restrooms have to be totally overhauled. Sinks, toilets, flush vaalves, benches and drains were all vandalized.

Light posts have destroyed wiring and missing access covers from occupiers unlawfully tapping into power. The access covers are decorative, matching the exterior of the old poles.

A large amount of graffiti has to be removed. This will require restoration of some surfaces.

It's not known how much the garbage haul is going to cost.

A portable chain link fence with barbed wire has been installed, costing $4000.

And the taxpayers will foot the bill for this.

Ironically, the anarchists and liberals who have protested whenever a Republican shows up in town are always whining that the GOP should pick up the costs of providing police overtime and pay for damage (which is more irony considering who is running up these bills in the first place). So, the shoe is on the other foot now. Will the Democratic Party pick up the Occupy Portland bills? Yeah, I thought not.

    It shouldn't.

The Tea Party never ran up costs like this.

There you go, slic...the money gets funneled to union contractors friendly with municipal government, and like water to the ocean, finds its way back to democrat coffers. A circle of life where everything flows to the left.

LEAVE IT ALONE. Fence it if necessary to protect innocent folks from the filth and contamination....but don't spend one additional cent to clean it up. Let the children of the Obama administration voluntarily clean their own mess up, or let it remain a monument to lunacy brought to you by the Democrat Party and Big Labor.
