    Hello:
A lot of you travel across our country attending state shoots. Other than your own state shoot, which state shoot do you think is the best to attend? Some reasons for a good state shoot maybe, the way it is run, the program, things to do in the area, hotels, etc.

Pennsylvania has a great well run state shoot. Lots of vendors, good food and some neat places to eat in the area. Knobles Amusement Park, right down the road. Friendly atmosphere.

Both ATA and PITA shoots are held in California but for ATA, I'd rate California's state shoot in Kingsburg to be near the top of the list. I'm sure there are many others but I've not been as much the traveler as many on this forum......Bob Dodd

I haven't been to any of the shoots in the Midwest or West. I can say that until the Cardinal Center happened in Ohio, the best was the Penn Shoot. I understand that until the Cardinal Center was built, the only Shoots that ran with a profit was the Penn Shoot. I can say that the Pennsylvania group gives it their all training their trap help. The local high school there even gives some school credit for their students who work the shoots. The scorers are paid even when they are being trained on the rules for shooting in the ATA prior to any of the shoots in the Spring. Trap help who work all of the shoots get a bonus at the end of the year. When the trap help return the next year, they are given a raise every year that they return. I can also say that the trap help are polite and pleasant as well as intelligent to talk to. Now Vandalia's trap help was always polite and pleasant. The Cardinal Center's trap help is the same way, but I will have to admit that Elysburg is my favorite.

The reason I am asking I am planning to retire next year and I plan to do a lot of traveling to state shoots with my wife. This list is a real good start.

I have shot at PA, Del, MD and IN. Out of those I would say PA hands down.
