I believe the Mark II locks the slide open after the last shot. My Mark I does not.

This article explains the differences between the original Ruger .22 pistol, the Mark 1, the Mark 2 and the 22/45.<br>

The above leaves off before the Mark III came out. Hiwever, the Mark III is bascially a Mark II with these "upgrades": a loaded chamber indicatior, a magazine disconnect which makes field stripping even more of an adventure, and an internally keyed gun lock.

I have the Mark III Hunter. A really nice feature they added on it is the loaded chamber indicator. It pops out slightly on the side of the barrel when there is a round in the chamber. The fluted barrel makes the longer barrel balance about like a 5" gun. We have put several hundred rounds through it, with no problem.

FYI - There is an excellent webb site devoted to Ruger firearns. This site has alot of information pertaining to Ruger pistols.

Go to www.RugerForm.com. The format is similar to TS.com. Do a search for the Mark I, Mark II etc., and you will find a wide variety of opinons etc.

    Good luck!

I just got a Ruger Mark III Hunter and put 200 rounds through it today. Not a hint of trouble and the sights were right on. Very pleased with it.
