Cannons. Should be in the shooting-related category, don't you think?

Here's the boat, plus a couple of the kids, and I am the captain, at least for a few more years. Can't even give the boat away, none of the kids are dumb enough to take it. Must take after their mother.

Here is another with the latest grandbaby (Wynter) included (altho both of the girls are currently expecting-boys this time)

All of the kids grew up pulling..yes the oldway..and all have done some shooting. Just when I paid the bill of course.

Now wait a minute...I thought boat pictures were only for trolling, like our good friend TRON used to do!

I was wet and kind of cold that November day, but I still think it's better than any of my duck hunting days.

I am with Guy;this boat belongs to all of us.It provides 97000 tons and 41/2 acres of Unitned States diplomacy avilable anywhere in the world at 30+ knots. This particular one is USS Harry S. Truman. We have 9 more just like her, plus USS Enterprise which is a little bit faster. A brand new one, which will replace 49 year old Enterprise;the USS Gerald Ford is 15% complete.

It has been my good fortune to work on all of them.

Roger, looks like you are one short for a full squad......good luck down there.
Hope you end up with a warm sunny week instead of a cool rainy week.

    Merry Christmas.

The St Croix River is the mid border between MN and WI. We live 2 blocks north of the confluence with the Mississippi. This view northward shows typical conditions. A river 1/4 to 1/2 mile wide, ave of 50' deep, 30 miles of navigable water, and two huge lakes that are about 4 miles long and a mile wide. Water is clear, spring fed, tannic from decaying leaves and teams with all sorts of predator fish. The river is protected by the National Scenic Waterways act. You can own shoreline frontage, but you cannot build where the house can be seen from the river. Our house was grand-fathered as it was built a couple years prior to the designation.

Note the athwartship (sideways) motion of the ship through the water when she fires a broadside, talk about needing recoil reduction! I think this is USS Iowa, the one that had a gun turret blow up. It was a shame to lay this class up they are really in pretty good shape, just takes lots of sailors to operate them.
Local rumor has it they are going to open up USS Wisconscin for below deck tours, she is berthed in down town Norfolk. These ships are something to see,if you get a chance take the tour.
