Here is an article from the Sydney Morning Herald. You won't find it in US papers, even though the speech was in North Carolina, because the US media worships Al Gore and the liberal, baloney science he shills. The key part of the speech is at the end where he notes that the whole global warming nonsense is really about scientists getting government grants to "study" global warming. The global warming myth is really about money and it is paying Al Gore very well.

"ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize "ridiculous" and the product of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works".
Dr William Gray, a pioneer in the science of seasonal hurricane forecasts, told a packed lecture hall at the University of North Carolina that humans were not responsible for the warming of the earth.
His comments came on the same day that the Nobel committee honoured Mr Gore for his work in support of the link between humans and global warming.
"We're brainwashing our children," said Dr Gray, 78, a long-time professor at Colorado State University. "They're going to the Gore movie [An Inconvenient Truth] and being fed all this. It's ridiculous."
At his first appearance since the award was announced in Oslo, Mr Gore said: "We have to quickly find a way to change the world's consciousness about exactly what we're facing."
Mr Gore shared the Nobel prize with the United Nations climate panel for their work in helping to galvanise international action against global warming.
But Dr Gray, whose annual forecasts of the number of tropical storms and hurricanes are widely publicised, said a natural cycle of ocean water temperatures - related to the amount of salt in ocean water - was responsible for the global warming that he acknowledges has taken place.
However, he said, that same cycle meant a period of cooling would begin soon and last for several years.
"We'll look back on all of this in 10 or 15 years and realise how foolish it was," Dr Gray said.
During his speech to a crowd of about 300 that included meteorology students and a host of professional meteorologists, Dr Gray also said those who had linked global warming to the increased number of hurricanes in recent years were in error.
He cited statistics showing there were 101 hurricanes from 1900 to 1949, in a period of cooler global temperatures, compared to 83 from 1957 to 2006 when the earth warmed.
"The human impact on the atmosphere is simply too small to have a major effect on global temperatures," Dr Gray said.
He said his beliefs had made him an outsider in popular science.
"It bothers me that my fellow scientists are not speaking out against something they know is wrong," he said. "But they also know that they'd never get any grants if they spoke out. I don't care about grants.""

Gore rides on junk science. Antartica has been cooling for the last century.

Rising temperatures in the NOrthern Hemisphere are due to the fact that there is more land mass.

The POS is riding high on the stupidity of his believers.

Dr Gray sums it up nicely in the last paragraph............Scientists know they won't get any grant money if they speak out against man made global warming.

The British Courts ruled that there are 11 factual lies in Al Gore's film and that scools in Great Britain can not show the film unless the students are advised that these 11 claims are, in fact, false. See the link above for the full story. Here they are:

1.The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

    2. The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

    3. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.

    4. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

    5. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

    6. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

    7. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

    8. The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

    9. The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

    10. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

    11. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

It appears that Algorged on Baloney.

Why did he get a "peace" prize...shouldn't it be one for science?

What the idiot has yet to mention is global cooling. There is both global warming and cooling on a 60/40 basis. The difference of 20% is environment in which all living things exist.

When Mount Saint Helen erupted, it threw more "pollution" into the atmosphere than the entire industrial revolution of the last century. And yet it was not the only major erupting volcano. Who is going to pay for Mother Nature's Carbon Credits?

If Global warming is a myth,as you say, then what, pray tell, is causing the global temp to steadily rise? It ain't the sun.....that's been proven.....even though in about 4 billion more years, the Sun will enlarge and consume the earth.....bet you don't believe THAT either.....do some serious reading and get a life!

Hippy, the temperature of the earth has been rising and falling for eons. Man has only been around for a few thousand years. What do you think caused warming before man showed up- dinasaur farts?

It certainly has been known for years that solar activity has a great impact upon weather.

Hippy, you probably think algore invented the internet too and was the model for the movie "Love Story". Use your brain and "get a life" as you said.

Hipshot 3- The temperature of the earth has been increasing since the end of the last Ice Age (10,000 years ago). How has it been proven that increased activity on the Sun has not caused warming of the earth?

You guys need to watch the Discovery channel. The sun and the earth both run climatic cycles. I believe the sun is on an 11 year deal. There was a mini ice age in the 1500's which drove the Vikings off Iceland. Didn't we have Global Ice Age threats in the 70's? Pretty soon bellbottoms will be in style again.

What was it, 15-25 years ago, they were worried about the cooling of the earth's surface.

Now they are worried about it getting to hot.

I've said all along, this is a ploy for the scientists to get more money out of the governments so they can study the so called problem.

Once again, as was last year.....where are all of the devastating hurricances that were predicted this year by the "experts"?

I do not strongly disfavor a little warming. My flowers are still nice, but frost is due in about two weeks. I don't like frost.

I sure hope this global warming hurries up. I live in Yuma County AZ and for the first time this last winter we lost 6 mature Ficus Trees to frost. Normally our trees are able to withstand a few hours of occasional sub-freezing nights, but this year for the very first time we lost (DEAD) 6 large trees with some extremely cold periods. Could you guys help out and burn a little extra gas this year. Maybe release some extra co2 if you have some laying around.

If this global warming causes to much more of this cold temperature I’m going to have to move south to Mexico.

North Carolina is in such a drought condition, that the governor said that a hurricane might be of help in ending it. Atlanta is down to three days supply in their reservoir.

Where are those global-warming-caused hurricanes when you need them?

    Dennis

Duh...in case you haven't noticed, pendennis, they're in Texas. Wettest year they've ever had in many locations.

You're a member of the Flat Earth Society, eh?
