I want to give a subscription to a "nice" magazine to a single lady (almost old enough to be eligible to join AARP) for her birthday . Her mother was about to become my wife before she died unexpectedly due to a pulmonary embolism .

I don't think Cosmo (or the like) would be appropriate but I really don't know . She is a teaching and composing pianist in Boulder, Colorado .

Recommendations and your rationale would be sincerely appreciated . Respond here or to my e-mail if that is more comfortable .

    Charlie:

Sorry to hear about the soon to be wife I know we have things in common as in the past.

I don't have a clue about a magazine but I will ask someone else what they think and give a description of the one you want to give it to.

Birds & Blooms. A great mag for that age group, male or female.

I have to agree with the above poster suggesting Birds & Blooms. Great magazine! Also Prevention....Great for women of all ages! If she likes to cook and entertain, there's always Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart Living.

Taste of Home is a "sister" magazine to Birds and Bloom and a good one.

I like Saveur...it's a very good gourmet cooking magazine. You can check it out online.
