Its I first became politically aware during the Kennedy/Nixon campaign. As a Conservative, and a strong Second Amendment advocate, I found little appeal in the policies of Johnson, Humphrey, McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton and Gore. However, I never really had much concern that these men were not Americans first and Democrats/liberals second.

Even John Kerry, who espoused far more concern for the opinions of the international community, I felt could basically be trusted to understand and serve the interests of our Country.

Unfortunately, after the defeat of Al Gore, a far more radical group, funded by the sinister George Soros, took over the leadership of the Democrat party and it is this group that has given us Obama. I have absolutely no confidence whatsoever that he has any particular interest in putting America first. He, his wife, his church and his associates have extensive histories in opposing our American Society. His father is not American and won't even live in the United States. How can we assume that Obama would not be affected by the opinions of his family and those with whom he has associated over the years?

Below are the first two paragraphs of an opinion which is appearing in the Wall Street Journal. I encourage you to click on the link and read the whole editorial. The fact that it was written by a Democrat whose credentials as a Democrat, resulted in his nomination as the party's vice president only eight years ago speaks volumes to the threat that Obama presents to this nation.

I hope that enough Democrats, like Joe Lieberman, realize that their party is not the party of FDR, Truman and Kennedy. It is not even the party of Clinton and Gore. It has become the party that will give us an America hater as president because that is what the current leadership of the party has become. I sincerely hope that at some point the control of the Democrat party returns to true American patriots like Joe Lieberman. The future of our nation depends on it.

    "Democrats and Our Enemies

How did the Democratic Party get here? How did the party of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy drift so far from the foreign policy and national security principles and policies that were at the core of its identity and its purpose?

Beginning in the 1940s, the Democratic Party was forced to confront two of the most dangerous enemies our nation has ever faced: Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. In response, Democrats under Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy forged and conducted a foreign policy that was principled, internationalist, strong and successful."

It appears to me, that the 2 parties spend so much time and money trying to make each other look bad, they forget that we put them there and we can take them out! I await their demise and/or fall.

Elected officials serve at the "pleasure" of their constituents, not their "handlers" !!!!!!!!RLMAO ....merlyn.....

It isn't the 'D' or 'R' behind a candidate's name that's most important to me. It's the 'L' or 'C'. Unfortunately, at the national level, liberal and Democrat have become essentially synonymous.

Since 1968, each party has nominated ten presidential hopefuls. Starting with Hubert Humphrey, Dem primary voters have chosen eight different candidates for those ten slots. Six of the eight were knee jerk liberals including Humphrey, Geo. McGovern, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Al Gore, and John Kerry. They all lost.

The two Dem candidates that weren't knee jerk liberals are Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Interestingly, the well intentioned, but feckless boob (Carter) and the morally bankrupt Clinton were each nominated twice. Also interesting, they won three out of four elections.

I was never particularly comfortable the libs on the list could be trusted to adequately defend the nation's interests from external threats. I was and remain certain their liberal/socialist/nanny state policies (to the extent those policies might be enacted) would constitute a danger to the Republic from within.

Barring a total melt down between now and the convention, Obama will be named the seventh knee jerk liberal to head the Dem ticket in the last forty years. His idea of effectively dealing with Iran's Ahmadinejad and North Korea's Kim Il-sung is to give them both a good "talking to".

    Heaven help us.

They are all garbage. your fortunes are the least of their concerns.

The coming depression may wake the voters up enough to go in a more correct direction, but unfortunately the ones in power can probably bullshit the man in the street enough, blaming other forces besides their ineptitude for today's problems.

They have maxed out our country's credit card, and the result is inevitable.

4.0 gas is just the beginning.

Congrats on some outstanding points concerning Bush II and the Republican party. My prior remarks were limited to the Dems because and only because Dems are the subject of this thread.

While there is room to debate a few minor (big emphasis on minor) details of your post, it would be difficult to counter the main theme. The sad state of Republican politics is however, a better subject for another thread.

I would encourage you to start one...

In my strong opinion both the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections would have easily gone to the Democrats had they just nominated someone more moderate. The fact they they have again nominated a candidate from the left wing of their party is the only reason I hold any hope for their loss in this years election.

Exactly...you can always trust the wacko voters in the democratic primary to commit SUICIDE by picking a wacko candidate who is too far left...and they're doing it again. And this time, that person even has the race thing working against him.

They've got a wonderful hand of cards this election...and are pissing it away!

God I love to watch this...

We're going to hell at 60 mph with the Democrats and 45 mph with the Republicans.

In your lifetime of voting, mine has been 18 years of voting, has it really made a difference on who you voted for?? seems to me like no matter who or what issue, prices have still risen?? taxes have still went up,service has still went down, politics is still a lifetime job, post office will increase postage now about once every 6 months from here on out,im looking for someone who supports the fair tax/flat tax,i need and want-- "my" ,yes its my money, taken out of "my check" every week, but wishfull thinking , i will never see a penny of it,except when i go to the store and see people buying snow crab legs with food stamps.

All parties and current politicians have left us behind

And thats the way it was 5/23/2008

"How can anyone thinks that one party is all saints and the other sinners???"

Anyone that thinks that is a complete fool. I just so happen to beleive that the Conservatives are the lesser of the two evils. B in O put it pretty well. The way that I see it, the biggest problem in this election is with voters who have no clue about politics, about the candidates, or what the candidates stand for. They here "CHANGE" and say, " that's our man", or woman in this case.

Just clueless, blind Americans, too ignorant to realize that congress is controlled by the people making the wrong decisions, or no decisions anyway. It'a all Bush's fault. B.S. Because of the degridation of society brought about by a liberal mindset, we are losing our country. Thanks Libbies.

They all suck for me right now. Heck they are lawyers and insurance salespersons(pc?) and they are all stinking rich!!!!! How much have these 2 DEM bozo's spent on beating each other up. Not to mention how much tax money is spent protecting them from state to state. Really its the 500 bozo's that have been up there for 20 30 years doing nothing. Im still wondering how the heck we give all this forgien aid and yet are borrowing money from China. It all makes me sick.

jwemrw is right, it's all Bush's fault. Those islamo wackos wouldn't have dared attack us if Albert Gore was our fearless leader.

One of the best "quotes" I have heard in a while; "Poor people have been voting for Democrats for the last 50 years.......and they are still poor" Sir Charles Barkley -- as related to me by my good friend - Ikey Starks.......merlyn....

I like to say my political views have not changed much since I was an avid Democrat teenager in the 60's. Of course that means I am now a far right conservative in the eyes of todays Democrats. What worries me is the Republican Party seems to be leaving me now, becomming a party that stands for nothing. Democrat Lite does not seem to me a formula for success..

Think about this: My grandfather and his identical twin brother fought side by side, in the same unit, against the Japanese in the Philippines in WWII. They were fighting a true force of evil. Not only did they fight for their lives, they fought for the lives of their Army brothers, and most important, and ultimately, OUR lives. They fought for OUR freedom.

Think about someone like Dick Winters and what him and EZ Company fought for. Hell, think about what all of our millitary personnel have done for us over the years.

This is how we honor them and their accomplishments, and their SACRAFICES? By potentially putting some P.O.S. muslim, communist slimeball in the White House? Screw you liberals. SCREW YOU.
