Does any know were I can obtain a copy of software program that will recover data from a crashed SATA hard drive. I can see the data with demo copies of the expensive software but does anyone know of a free or under 30 program,

If you have another computer that is SATA compatible, you can simply hook it up to it as a secondary slave drive and it should come up as the "D:" drive. Then you can click on it and take your files off. Hope this helps, Josh.

Depending on how technical you are, you may be able to read a drive that won't boot, either by mounting it as a secondary drive in another machine or booting from a CD such as Ultimate Boot Disk for Windows (ubcd4win.com). The first approach will probably be easier if you know how to mount a secondary drive.

What you need will depend on what went wrong. You might be able to get away with some free software if the data isn't too corrupted. It takes a little expertise to recover data when it has been badly corrupted. Sometimes playing with it will make it more difficult to recover as well.

Before anyone can make a recommendation, you need to give some better details of what went wrong and what operating system you were using. Were the drives in a raid array? If so, how was it configured? There needs to be a lot more input before you can get any meaningful help.
