My daughter is a student at EIU at Charleston, Il. I asked her today if she needed gas when she was out to the house and she said no she had filled up at Charleston and got it for 2.99 a gal. That's good news with everything else in the tank so to speak I guess its' good to get cheaper gasoline. Now if diesel fuel would just go south about 2$ I would be happier. Dan

Great isn't it....or it really extending a problem. When gas gets low, pressure on congress to drill here, drill now and pay less will diminish. While I am glad for the reduction, which shows AGAIN that the law of supply and demand works, whe HAVE to KEEP pressure on congress or it will be back the other way after the election.

It's not supply & demand or the oil companies. It's the STOCK MARKET. they shot us in the foot and are getting it in the neck now. You rob a bank and you go to jail. You steal millions from the stock market and you get away scot free. What a country. 3 former CEO's of fannie may who left with many millions of "golden parachute" money are now financial advisors to barak obama. oz

My nice comfy and fast Ford 5.4L V8 Supercrew F-150 I bought for a steal is so much better than that way overpriced V6 Toyota Tacoma I was considering. Lets hope the prices stay down. My heating oil guy wanted me to pay $4.55 prepay in August. Glad I declined.

Everyone acts like Gas under $3.00 is such a big deal, hell it don't burn any better than the stuff we bought when I was at Kid for 29.9 per gallon, until there was a Gas war between companys ... ... Politics as usual ...

Wait until there is a re-evaluation of the dollar and things get back down where they belong ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

They will restrict the supply and prices will go back up. It won't stay this way.

Helloooo out there in lala land- the price of gasoline is down because the world price of oil is in freefall because of the financial crisis. This is easy enough for any rational person to understand.

Oh, well, maybe the oil companies are conspiring with Bush to lower the cost of gas to increase the market for SUVs. LOL

We still have to drill, these prices won't last and even if they do, we still need the security of our own oil.
