My babies. Grandaughter ( one of a pair of twins born in Germany )and the Siamese kitten my kids got me to replace an old female Calico that died. Laying on my son's lap Christmas 2 years ago just prior to his graduation from CGSC and his assignment as Batt XO in New Mexico. He has spent this year in trashcanistan and will be rotating back in mid October.

I like kids -and- kitty cats so me-n-W.C.Fields would never get along. HeH.

If all of these are or have been yours, or even just one of them, God will have an especially good seat for you later on.

    Shaggist,

    Blackie

    train222_2008_03031349.jpg

Yes, both where from the same litter...

Blackie wieghed 22 lbs in this picture.

When we took him to the vet, people thought he was a black panther...

That was the hardest thing that my wife and I had to do, is when we had to have are beloved cats put down...

She still is not ready to replace them with some new kitties...Hopefully soon...

I too am a cat lover. Amazing to think that the domestic feline is more closely related to the mtn. lion than is the African lion or leopard, for example. Great design, little hunting/killing machine that somehow bonded with man.

Stu. I'm in the process of trying to find a better food for my cat. We feed her Science Diet "Original" and she eats it well enough but you can tell by her stool that the product varies and likely with bacteria that some she can tolerate and some she cannot. I'm looking at "Orijen" and "Nevo". both made with ingredients of human grade level consumption. My cats have never lasted 21 years. Most died from kidney failure or accidents. this cat is pretty famous in my house. She is the giver of the "Cat finger". Wonderful little animal tho.

    Jack,

I am not familar with the "Orijen" and "Nevo" brands...

We have always feed our cats the various stages of Science Diet, once they started to get older..

When we started with the Diet Science Brand we went with the 'Youg Adult' and As they got older we went to the 'Mature Adult' and then to 'Age Defying' Science Diet Brands...

In thier last year before thier passing, it really didn't matter what food we feed them, they couldn't really digest any food we gave them with out having accidents..

Our vet is the one who told us to switch over to the science diet program about 13 years ago. Before that, they liked the canned foods like Friskies and some other dry food brands.

They where very particular about what they ate and pretty much stayed with what they liked to eat. When we tried to change the foods, they wouldn't eat.

When we switched over to the Science Stuff, they seamed to enjoy it.....

They have both been gone for over a year now, and I really can't belive how much I still miss them...They both where my buddies...

The wife is still not ready for any new animals as yet. I am hopping after my daughters wedding, in March, and things start to settle down, that she will think about getting some new kitties.

We are going to be baby sitting my daughters dog for two weeks while they are away on thier Honey Moon. It is going to be an interesting new expierence for the both of us..

    Later,

    Your Friend....Stu

I always wanted one of these cats, but it takes a special home to have one and lots of money. You may enjoy the site. If you go to the site, be sure to watch the video with the little girl. http://www.a1savannahs.com/about.htm

I switched to a grain-free cat food for my curretn two male (neutered) cats, and they are doing great. Bothe my Max and Jack like it and there are no grains in the food. The food is called Evo - stands for an evolutionary food. There are other grain free foods also. These are closer to what cats, true carnivours, should eat. They cost a bit more, but its cheaper in the long run since they have no health issues. They also eat less of it than the grocery store brands since they get the nutrients they need better from these higher quality foods and therefore don't eat in excess and don't gain extrs weight.

Read the stuff in Science Diet and others; they have things in them that are not the best for cats (corn, etc.). I learned this only after loosing some of my past cats who were heavier than they should have been and had some health issues. My current two are the healthiest cats I have ever had. They get some grain-free canned food as well.

Cats need meat,if they had to go back to the wild do you think they would seek out the nearest wheat or corn field...no no no, they would go after mice and birds and other rodents...

Yep, always wanted a Savannah, but $20,000 for a F1 is a little rich for me. My second choice would be an Abyssinian. For now we have our free, farm cat, coaster attacking, devil child.

We feed our Maine Coon cat Lifes Abundance. That's what the breeder was giving the litter. Google Lifes Abundance cat food. They have canned and hard food.

I guess you would have to be a cat lover to endure litter boxes, allergies, and cat hair!

I opened this thread hoping that "kittens" was code for "a little pussy". Highly disappointed............

I was on a plane once and a woman, 4 rows up, was having terrible convulsions. She was fit to be tied and jumped out of her seat hysterical. Her eyes watered, they closed up on her, her face got beet red and she cried in agony. We were all getting pretty nervous but couldn't figure out what to do for her. Finally, she was able to utter the words "Does someone have a cat onboard?". As it turned out they'd let the guy right behind her bring his cat onboard. He had it in a cage, directly under her seat. It was moved up to the front of the plane and, within a minute or two, she was back to her old self. So, apparently, there are some out there who'd rather be dragged behind a buffalo than be around a cat.
