Soon after our 5 year anniversary in Iraq, the number of soldiers (men and women) reached 4,000 today. A truly sad day. When will we learn?

Well Trappy, McCain said we'll be there 100 YEARS, or when the oil dries up. So prepare your grandchildren to go and die, if thier not already. As young man and a vet., it took me along time to discover that war wasn't nescessary neither. I trusted my political leadersand believed in the fight of communism, only to have John Mc and 5 senators lead a mob of 50/60 CEOs to Vietnam (still a communist country) along with THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN JOBS to exploit the cheap labor market, like Columbia Sportswear etc. Like spitting on the graves of all those who died believing in their leaders. Perhaps John is suffering long term from the same psycotic condition that Patty Hearst had embracing their captors, feeling they owe their lives to them...Mike

Deckhart, no sane person likes war, especially those who are engaged in it. But, lets be honest we need to protect the Middle Eastern oil fields because it directly effects U.S. national security. Until, we find a serious alterntive to fossil fuels the United States "must" protect these oil fields as part of our national strategy.

Every life is sacred and those that have lost a father, mother, son and or daughter in war know this better than anyone, but have became a nation where we can fight a war and keep deaths to a minimum.

The United States lost over 114,000 troops during WWI, 420,000 soldiers during WWII, 32,000 during Korea and 53,000 in Vietnam. We lost over 605,000 in four years during the American Civil War. I'm not trying to trivitize the deaths of 4,000 brave young men and women who serve us in Iraq and Afghanistan. My step son Mike and my cousin Jaime served in Iraq. I have two nieces; Lindsey back from Iraq and one Mallory currently in Aghanistan serving our nation. They will all tell you what they do/did is important in helping free a people and protect US interests. My father served during Korea and my two brothers and myself served during the Vietnam era. We know what it takes to serve a nations interests.

Mike, if you think the price of freedom is to high by serving the interests of this nation, wait till we get the bill for not protecting our interests. You may not like what you see in our near future. May the grace of God bring this war to an end and let us return all our troops home to their loved ones. Thanks

    Rick

To answer your question, deckfart, you will never learn because you're a brainless liberal.

Misters Trappy and Deckart - How would you answer the Bill O'Reily quiz?
    1. Do you want the US to win in Iraq?
    2. Would the world be a better place if the US wins in Iraq?

Rico46, We, the USA, have known about our dependence on foreign oil since the oil embargo (fiasco) in the 70's. We, under both party's leaders, have done nothing to change that. Perhaps the hundreds of billions we have spent since would have been put to better use finding other sources of energy so we would NOT be in this position. That is the reason I believe these lives were wasted.

The question posed was not "Can we win" it was "Do you want us to win". But I suspect your answer to both is the same - no.

Fonda was wrong too. She hit the troops more with her antics than the US policy Deckart. McCain is "well" McCain a POW who survived, and I think has many emotional and mental scars. And none of us have walked in his shoes that I'm aware of. I won't say a thing about his service, other than to say I think he did the best he could under the circumstances, as all other military people do. Its not the troops, its the idiots we elect as leaders and some will choke when I say idiotology is by-partisian...Mike

DJM, You are correct, then I asked you how we can win? What has to happen for us to win? Military and political people from BOTH side say we can't.

Rico46, if you have that strong of convictions that Iraq war is crucial to our freedom and their freedom. Go to your local recruiter and enlist or if you are to old (over 40) create your own militia and go there. It is easy to hold one's coat while he fights and dies and you watch, you know standing outside the fire. You know Davy Crocket was in two wars, Ted Williams 2, just to name a couple who put their tails in hell because of their convictions...Mike
