I need help opening some stored files. I copied some of our club files onto a thumbdrive. Without knowing, I copied them in a XLSX file format. The original files are gone now.

I can't open them now. All I get is a screen full of doodles, and odd characters.

I am not computer literate enough to figure this out myself.

    Any Help?

Remove X's to e-mail any suggestions.

    Thank you

    Danny,

xlsx format is the format for files created with Microsoft Excel v 2007. I think the only way to read them is with Excel v2007. Once you read them in you can resave them in an earlier format.

you can download viewers/converters for older versions of Excel from the Microsoft website. They work well.

Go to the above site and download Open Office and you will have a program that will open any Microshaft files there is. Open Office is free and has all the office programs Microshaft office has.

Anyone need a new, full, unused version of Open Office? I'd sell it damn cheap.
