I took my boys for the annual Fletcher's Floodwaters fishing trip and once again had a great time. We didn't do so well with the Norther's, but did hit the Crappie real well. The weather was very good Friday and Saturday and was calm for the most part.

    Saturday morning:

    Tron,
Have fun with your kids. They grow up too fast. Don't worry about the wood pile that he's working on. I use to make my kids dig post holes by hand. They still remember it.
I am the one that emailed you a buy a 391. Will be intouch.

When I was young I worked in the woods, we burned wood at home for heat, I split more wood by the time I was 20 than 90% of every one on here has split in their life. I did not wear safety glasses ever, Never even knew about them, I do not remember ever being hit by any metal, never. I know it could happen. People are so over protective of kids today, that I cannot beleave you let that poor boy split wood. He should be locked in his room with a computer so that he will be safe from these out door things and the bad things that can happen in the outdoors.
Can't anyone show a picture of someone performing some sort of labor with out picking on that person for a lack of safety gear.

    thats my rant!

There was also VERY hot grease in that skillet.....that boy is lucky that he didn't burn his nose. Maybe I should have brought along a full face mask in anticipation of a fish fry. Also, notice NO life vest. If that boat capsized in the friggid 3 foot water, we'd a had to walk to shore.

    NO LIFE VEST:

Here, I'm operating my outboard with NO HANDS!

OH, I forgot to mention the "Party Boys". They are a group of guys in their 20's who are a HOOT to watch. By about noon or so, they don't even know their names. This year, only 1 of them fell out of the boat...it can get ugly.

Big Don said you were polishing your new belt buckle. Looks like more fun than that. Next year tell the "Party Boys" to rent a bigger boat.

    Tron,

My neck of the woods...many fond memories of the pond, Hubbard Lake, Van Etten, etc. I practically grew up there 3 months at a time every summer and knew every bend of the AuSable from Mio down to Oscoda, Five Channels/Cook/Loud/Foote, worked that river hard. The B-52's roaring overhead from Wurtsmith didn't detract from it one bit (my theory was that it was how the Steelhead found home). With the Cold War over, when I go up there now, it's as quiet as the end of the earth.

God's Country! That, a blue-eyed Michigan (State) girl (and one week in Vandalia) were as close to Heaven as I need to get (psst, but don't tell Jim...if we were in Columbus...I'll deny every word of this).

Looks to be a boatload of skeeters on vacation. Tron - no self respecting REAL fisherman uses a ugly stick, well not unless they just upgraded from the Snoopy fish'n combo. Enjoy those kids all good.
