A friend is trying to identify an Argentina Mauser, serial number 90xx. Does anyone know what model this would be or a source to find this information?

    Thanks,

Gary, the name of the manufacturer and model should be on the left of the receiver. It should have MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891 or 1909. The Model 1891 will have a single stack magazine that extends below the stock. The Model 1909 is similar to the German 1898 and has a five round internal magazine. Caliber for both is 7.65X53 Belgian. Early 1909's were made in Germany and later were made in Argentina. Google "Argintine mausers"for mor information on model variants and value. In my opinion the Argintine mausers were the best made of all the Mauser marks. - Norm
