Very cool and historical pictures. Sure wish I hadn't viewed that one of Einstein posing on the rock - having a hard time erasing that from my memory!

Look at the expression on the face of the British Rat Patrol driver. Awesome confidence.

My thoughts exactly Setterman. The guy looks like a Hollywood legend but he's the real thing.

Some of the hollywood legends -were- the 'real thing.

Dancer Mata Hari and television star Julia Child; movie stars Greta Garbo, Cary Grant, Anthony Quayle, Bill Travers, John Ford; writers W. Somerset Maugham, Ian Fleming, Graham Greene, Noel Coward, Malcolm Muggeridge, Helen MacInnes, as well as baseball star Moe Berg, Supreme Court Justices Arthur Goldberg and Byron White, and Teddy Roosevelt's son Kermit Roosevelt.

All these and more were intelligence officers or clandestine operatives.

Setterman, the driver you make mention of is a Lieutenant, jump qualified and notice he is wearing a Fairburn/Sykes fighting knife on his left hip. These Desert Rat patrols were mostly behind German lines and were the forerunners of the S.A.S. Maurice ( The Brit> )

    Thanks Stu.

The planes parked on 9-11 are at Gander International Airport, Gander, Newfoundland, Canada....the wonderful folks from that community fed and housed hundreds travellers from many nations during those dark days.

You could put those samurai in cowboy clothes of the same era and they would fit right in. Bad ass dudes.
