Does anyone have any info on whether it is legal to take aerial photo of my property without my consent and sell them either to me or anyone else? I live in Nebraska.

Doubt if there is a law against it, you can go to Google map and type in your addy and a picture of it will come up

Some of the people who take the pictures think they are made out of gold though

I know they have been doing it for years. I would like to see the look on their face when I tell them I will take the photo and the negative and they can get off my property!! It always cracks me up when they say they can't take any less than $xxx for the photo. Who are they going to sell it to?

Yes it is perfectly legal. You do NOT own the air above your property nor do you own the visual rights to your property. In a lot of the western states you do not even own the minerals or water on your land unless you bought the rights. If you try and take the picture and/or negative it is you who will be breaking the law. Ask them to leave and never return.

    FYI:

Those pilots around here will usually always work with you on the price of the photos. I'm not saying they give them away but we have negotiated them down some on the price. We went ahead and bought the pics of several of our properties quite a few years ago as they turned out pretty nice.

Big Brother doesn't need a small airplane to spy on you. They already have all the bells and whistles they need.

What they do around here is go up in an area and take pictures of all the farms. Then they go out and sell to whomever will buy them.

We did buy an aerial view of our club from them and put it on the wall.

They're as bad as the idiots that paint your house number on the curb then demand you pay for it.

I guess my objection to it is CAN they sell it to someone else? Not to mention, just why would someone else want a photo of my property? Are there any legal issues concerning privacy? I know, if I want to see it, all I have to do is look at Google maps and zoom in it.

Why would this bother you any one can use your address or GPS coordinates on Google earth and they can see Ariel photo and save them as well. Why would they need to pay for them???

Zillow will give you a picture and information on any property they have on file. It is a valuable resource for the real estate business.

Pretty interesting what you can see from a small plane by flying over the neighborhood pools on a hot afternoon.

I got a sneak peek at Trufans back room...I see why he is worried about fly overs. I heard he has his own anti-air defense system he is working on...I will see if I can find the pic of his proto-type.
