    Hi Jen:

Sounds like you had a really great shoot! I'm glad...all things considered (high gas prices, components, etc). You know, I read your post to Chris Morris regarding the thought that given the mileage difference, it should not have that great an impact, and to a large degree, I believe you are right. I also know that if those same shoots were held on different dates, about half of those names you listed would be at the Washington State Shoot (and vice versa for Oregon).

I spoke to a PITA shooter yesterday who is going to bat for both associations to get permanent dates for these two important tournaments so that they do not conflict with each other. I know that the WSTA has had the exact same dates for over 30 years,(third weekend in June) so I would imagine that the flexibility is going to come from within the Oregon PITA, if it is to happen at all.

I sure hope so, because I'd love to travel down your way to attend your state shoot! :)

Great job on the reporting (and the shooting!)

    Take care,

    Kim Stephens

    Hi Kim!

Sorry we missed seeing you at the Inland Empire this year. We took a business trip to Washington D.C. instead.

It sounds like you guys had a great shoot this year too. Spokane is always one of our favorite places to shoot and I know that you guys know how to run a good shoot.

We have our scheduling meeting every Labor Day and I'll talk with the Board about our week. It may be hard to convince them that we've been impacted but if enough people talk about it then they may look at going another week later. Who knows?

Hope to see you sometime soon, alhough it may not be until next May!

    Jen

Kim and Jenny, two of my favorite ladies, the trouble with changing dates any time is that it will step on someone's toes no matter what; be it so minor as, "We've always had that date for our Joe Schmuck memorial and we don't want to lose it or shoot against a state shoot!" But it clearly should be arranged that the PITA Grand Pacific date should be established - and I believe it has. Followed by State shoots, both ATA and PITA being established firmly, and then clubs should be meeting in some sort of gathering to nail down routine shoots as much possible. I broke into this game in the S.F. Bay area where all clubs, most throwing both PITA and ATA birds, met at an "amalgamated meeting" each year and this type of bidding and agreements was done and inked in for the year. It should be a delight that we have so many choices in OR and WA that there's a need for such an arrangement. Perhaps you two logical thinkers can see that it's done here if not already in the works to some degree. We must agree that there's going to be weekend shoots in Spokane and Medford, for example, on the same weekend but the big shoots, both associations, should be ironed out, firm, and as possible, dates maintained from year to year. Just MHO....breakemall....Bob Dodd
