No actually Brian, the candy ass is grand standing to his constituents. Don't forget the Sheriff is elected. Like most of us, I'm sure he also took an oath not to swerve from the path of duty. Unless, of course it may affect your re-election prospects.

Could be the sheriff understands the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and any law passed that "infringes" on the 2nd Amendment, would therefore be unconstitutional.

Yes, most Sheriffs are political, as most higher command staff of any agency.

Would your assessement be the same for Sheriff Joe in AZ?

Someday the people will make it clear to the lawmakers, jurists and LEO's, they are not above the law and will end up doing time along with the other criminals, in their attempts to subvert the Constitution, just because parts of it do no suit them.

There is a reason the oath of office is to protect and serve, the US Consititution first, the State second, then county and muni's last. You can stop a driver for speeding, but you cannot drag him out of his car and pound himinto the pavement because he might have an obsence bumper sticker on his car about Obama.

548 should take the time to read Printz v. U.S. (521 U.S. 898) before spouting off.

If you are so inclined, turn on Fox News right now. They are going to have a judge speak on this very issue.

My guess is 548 doesn't understand the difference between a "elected" official(sheriff's) and a plain ole Federal employee including FBI agents!!

548 should have listened to Judge Napitano, The only power the Feds have is called "A Checkbook".

And for Oregon to have joined the other 6 states that are doing the same is TRULY surprising!!!

States' Rights still exist the last I heard, but they don't teach that stuff in school anymore.

Sorry to rain on your parade guys, but if the sheriff wants to interpret constitutional law, he needs to go back to school and get a law degree and join the judicial branch of government. Until then, his executive branch position requires him to enforce the laws passed by the legislative branch of government, not interpret their constitutionality. So he can either make laws or interpret the constitutionality of them, but he has to get a different job to do it. Grand standing! Just like the crook in Arizona.

I am seriously beginning to doubt your claim of being a LEO. If indeed you are, you need remedial training in Constitutional Law, because you did not understand it.

I bet you did not watch the clip on Fox News did you?

It's been a long time since I studied about the Sheriff position but I seem to remember that He has all authority above any and everyone in his county. Jackie B.

Shooting jack, in MN, the county coroner is the only one with the authority to arrest the county sheriff.
