Look at the 09 Ford. They have so much more room.

I like the style of the Chevy Silverado PU and some people I know who have them love them.

That said, I am holding off on replacing my 2002 Tundra super cab with a new Tundra as I don't like all of the talk about gasoline returning to $4 or higher.

My 2002 has under 100,000 miles and I just replaced brakes, shocks, tires and had the recommended 90,000 mile maintenance. It drives great, everything works like new and it's paid for.

The US Government will stand behind your warranty but I would pick a strong dealer. You may be able to get a good deal from a dealer who has been given a "letter".

I really don't think that the average person, myself included, understands what the gasoline situation is going to be in a few years. If we get a major disruption in supply in the middle east. the cost of gasoline IMO will go higher than ever before. At $4 a gallon, I only drove the Tundra when necessary.

The Silverado should give you a long service life. What will be the cost of fuel over that life?

When I replace the Tundra, it will probably be with the smaller Tacoma super cab with a 2.7 Liter four cylinder and a manual transmission.

My buddy has a 2008 with the crew cab and it's 4x4 with 5.3 liter engine. He drove to Wisconsin with less than 1000 miles on the truck. 20.7 mpg on the trip up and 21.2 on the return. He just loves it and the fact of his good mileage makes it better. My other buddy has a 4.6 engine in his f-150 4x4 and his mileage is about 15 on the road. It's a few years older though. My 1995 f-150 4x4 is a 4.9 six cylinder and it gets about 16 mpg on the road. Much less on short drives.

I suggest considering a Ford instead. Ford isn't being run by our newly socialistic government and they didn't incinerate $20 Billion of taxpayer money on their way to bankruptcy court.

I have an '08 GMC. I have the Flex fuel engine and if I could do over I would not get that engine. My highway MPG with gas is about 19-21 on the average, with E-85 it is about 13-14. I now have 16K on it, no engine, tranny, or electrical problems. Just had a small vibration in the dash that was easily fixed.

My neighbour has a new 09 Silverado, he must really like it because he stops by the dealer to visit it all the time ... They have had it in their garage more than my neighbour has ... He said he thought something was wrong when he didn't make it home the day he bought it and the dealer is only 3 miles away from here ... He is trying to get GM to take it back and give him another one or give him his money back so he can go and get another truck some place else ... The dealer has told him they can't figure out whats wrong with it several times and told him he has to return the rental car pretty soon or pay for it out of his pocket ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I just bought an 09 GMC Sierra, ext cab. Like it so far. They gave me $4000 in rebates plus I had $3500 on my GM credit card. The truck was 130 days old and was $1000 cheaper than an identical truck newly made, plus one of the option packages had a $500 rebate. The dealer had someone looking for a used truck similar to my trade-in so I got top dollar in trading it. The guy drove it off before I took delivery of the new one. In summary, they are giving them away, get yours now!

They are giving them away for a reason. GM and Dodge will soon be run by Hussein himself with Pelosi and Reed as VP's. So suit yourself. I would buy a Ford any day over something the government is involved with. Ford is the 2009 truck of the year for a reason. And it is not because taxpayers proped them up so they could file bankruptcy anyway. Some people just never seem to "get it".

Make sure you get the heated endgate option. That way you will be able to keep your hands warm in the winter when you have to push it off the road.

I have an '08 and love driving it. I have about 30,000 miles on it with no problems. Better fuel mileage than the '04 I had stolen. Bill Malcolm

I have an 07 CC 4x4, LS, 4.8 motor, 3.73 gearing. I have had no problems at all with it. Trips average 18-21 mpg, I even got 23 mpg going down to CO & back one time. After sitting for 2 weeks in the garage when Im not using it, it fires right up every time.
I would of bought the 2008 new body style, but that front bumper just doesnt do anything for me....:)

I think the new Chevy's are perfectly terrific and handsome trucks...I am partial to Ford but like Chevys Duramax the best in the diesels....as far as Toyotas or Nissans,,..sorry folks..I lost family at Pearl, and later off the Yorktown..as well as my Grandpop buried France...so especially in light of it being so soon after Memorial Day and vaguely reliving my loved ones final fates...you know where you can stick your Japanese truck

GM has created a huge public relations problem which will take a couple of generations to overcome, if they last that long. I have owned GM products all my life and I'll never own another. I really don't think it's possible for it to become a vialble company again and it should be split up. If you think the Gov't will cover your warrenty just look at the other Gov't run enterprises like Amtrak and the post office. Amtrak trains were frozen for over a week out of Chicago last winter.
