Gander Mountain has the Bushmaster Carbon 15 on sale for $649 through 7-30.

The online concensus seems to be "they're OK for the money."

Any thoughts before I spring for a new toy?

My opinion is look around for a Stag Arms AR15. Stag has been making parts for M16's and such back to the Vietnam days. I have a Stag Arms Model 2 and payed not much more than the Bushmaster you listed. I'm just not a big Bushmaster fan. The one you listed is chambered for .223. I would look for one in 5.56mm instead. The 5.56mm models can shoot both .223 and 5.56mm where as the .223 models are for just .223. "Brian from Oregon" on here is very versed in AR's. Shoot him a PM and see what he says. Stag Arms Lifetime Warranty says alot in my book.

For what its worth, that is a pretty good price for any AR.
