are on. Is it just me or is this pretty lame, and rather tasteless? Frankie Goes to Hollywood? Is this the best we (society) can do on the world stage? And thats really just the tip of it as far as I'm concerned.

Oh yeah, the Chinese are quaking in their boots at this.

I had rather forgot what a meager, modest, unremarkable little country the UK had become these days.

    But I just remembered. Eww

Cut the Brits some slack...they are one of the few who have always had our back lately and since WWI...but lets just make sure we insist they keep Elton John over there!!

Let's see; Viera and Lauer, Costas and Brokaw and then I got to Kenneth Branaugh in a stovepipe hat - that was it.... watched an old Gunsmoke episode instead. Will pick up some event coverage later. Boring, boring, and then real boring.

I thought it was very well done. When china did it, they had a dominance type attitude about it. This one seems to want to promote good will and sportsmanship, the way the games are meant.

Shocked that they showed Bill Cosby. And Mr. Bean cheating in a race... What does that say?

Didn't watch, aren't the opening ceremonies supposed to be based on the Nation that is hosting the event???

Can some one tell me what has the UK has to offer that is the least bit interesting?

    Besides, "Faulty Towers"

Has the American flag been walked past the Queen yet? I wonder if he will dip Old Glory or hold her high as he passes the Queen??

I thought it was quite well done.

For anyone who knows anything about British history, it was a very good recreation

After all, the opening ceremonies are about the host country,Great Britain, not whether it was better than Bejing or not.

For many Americans, this was about their ancestral heritage, whether they recognize it or not.

My wife thought the same thing before she fell asleep but I`m just wondering if she or you guys could have done better ?? I thought it portrayed a great example of what their country went though - as ours - in that time period. Very well done in my opinion .

If opening ceromonies are suppose to be about the host nations history, they could have portrayed all the failed times that Great Britain tried to rule the World! That would have made the ceromony interesting!
