You should be able to pick up Red Dot for approximately $93 for 8#. I have been told that PROMO loads the same as Red Dot so I'm going to try it. $74 for 8#. Ed

The only powder that would challenge Red Dot would be Green Dot.

I've tried Red Dot, 700x, and Clays &( one other) forgot. I like Clays the best. Meters better and cleaner than most.A very consistant and smooth recoil. Break-em all. Jeff

700X is my favorite, especially in Federal Paper hulls. Used to use Red Dot but switched to 700X because it was a little more dense and gave me a better crimp with paper hulls. I could live with Red Dot if 700X was not available.

I started out with Red Dot back in the early 60's but switched to 700x in the late 60's. Am still using it. I try other powders and have shot a good bunch of Clays and Clays International and like it. Have been shooting Rex II with good results. I like the recoil but it does not seem to burn as clean. When I'm serious I always go back to 700x for 7/8's to 1-1/8. I always keep several pounds on hand.

Claydot - Identical performance to Clays for less money.

I have had great results with Rex 1. Under $220 for 25 lb, bulky and easy to ignite. When pressures are kept over 8000 psi, it is about as clean as Red Dot.

Red Dot/Promo or 700-X. Won't go wrong either way. Promo has the edge on economy at $70 a jug.
