Does anyone remember what Kennedy was worth when he ran for President? How about who else that was in the top 1%?

Kennedy's old man was a racketeer rum runner with political connections some what like Alfonso Capone, who had no high up connections.

Being this wealthy, means he's not in it for the money. He does have the credentials to straighten this country out. He is not a career politician. His baggage is not heavy like Newt's.

I am a gun owner & people who know me , know I value my guns & the right to bear arms. I am not worried about Romney's so called gun stance. The most important thing is to defeat Obama & get our nation
    back on track.

NEVER should an American citizen look down on someone who has become wealthy by legal means. They should spend their time finding out how they too can become wealthy by working, investing and making wise finacial decisions. This is what this country is all about. ANYONE can becoem wealthy if they set their sites on it an actually work instead of putting their hand out. I say congrats to Mitt Romney for his success. Now i hope he loses this political battle to become the GOP nominee. Hussein has fueled this fire of class warfare as he has lived an entire life on freebies and handouts and wants the rich to continue to pay for the rest to do nothing and be rewarded. Capitalism vs socialism you be the judge.

I recall seeing research saying that George Washington was the wealthiest man in the US when we became president.

Lets see....21.6 million profit in one year, 13.9% taxes paid, accounts overseas...yet no earned income listed on his tax returns! No wonder we are screwed!

From what I understand, Romney earned his money legally and payed his taxes as required. Why is this an issue?

IMO Newt is far from having any morality, decency or integrity. He was practically ran out of Washington years ago (by his peers) in what should have been disgrace. Why should anyone want to send him back to Washington in a limo with free rent and an unlimited spending account. He boast his family values and gets upset when he is challenged on those values during a debate. What a POS. Newt had his time at the capital and pi$$ed it away. Why send him back.

Lets just ge Newt in their for now to raise hell with the Libs. and democrats in government. See if he throws out much of the freeloaders in government and make all the deptartments smaller and turn the money back to the states.
He has a bone to pick with the Clintons and revenge will be such sweet sorrow if he gets elected. At least I think he could do it quicker that Mitt. Mitt is to pleasing with anyone. If Newt can't do it then we can throw his ass out in 4yrs. Bill

Maybe you didn't hear me...I paid "legally" triple more taxes than he did. No wonder 48% of citizens don't pay taxes!

I know Obama needs to be replaced, but will be surprised if Romney can do it!! Obama's "liberal social agenda" and his open arms approach to illegal workers (who vote?)gives him the Oval office for another 4 years. It looks like Obama' Attorney General, has teamed or yoked-up with Mexico, against Arizona!! I'd like to know where the Governors, Senators, and Representatives are from those states, on this illegal issues.

Remember income doesn't mean profit. Lets say you get 1 million a year in tax free income from tax free muni bonds, you would pay less taxes than the average American who pay taxes, but a lot of people fail to realize--almost 50% of all Americans pay zero taxes.

Baloney!!! If you make 22 million a year and your earned income line is blank, and legal, it is no wonder we are screwed!

At a certain time in a person's life , you are no longer a risk taker. You want security and income. A lot of senior citizens of means have a portfolio with a high percentage of tax free bonds. Talk about tax free--what do think of the massive holdings of religious institutions.

Most of the money they are holding came from church members through donations of which the members already paid taxes on. How many times can the same money be taxed? Forever, until it's gone?

Yes Mark, money gets taxed until it is 'gone' but thats okay because the fed puts more of it out. Those smart enough to navigate the tax code get to keep more of the money and eventually they get enough money that they pay people to do this job for them. Now if that doesn't put you into a spin consider this -

Our money is backed by absolutely nothing - it is just a token or a marker that can be used to get things you actually want.

We are trillions in debt, and I don't think we will ever get out. Our grand kids will call us the death of America...and rightly so I think. A trillion dollars does not compute for most people, it is just a number.

To put it slightly in perspective, a million dollars is 1000 dollar bills (if there was such a thing) stacked on top of each other and would be 4" high. A trillion would be stacked to a distance of 68 miles high.

We will probably default just as many countries are on the verge of right now. I suppose how are grand children are personally positioned economically and politically will determine their survival. We need to teach them well!

    Here is another tidbit:
A million seconds is 12 days.
A billion seconds is 31 years.
A trillion seconds is 31,688 years.

Are you suggesting we should find ourselves a poor, community organizer? The wealth demonstrates that Romney is successful outside of politics. The rest all seem like failure outside of politics.

I'll take the successful guy every time. At least he's done something right in his life.
