Why would you go from a two eyed shooter to a one eyed shooter? I was always under the impression that being able to shoot two eyed was an advantage.---Matt

The POI will not change, but the way you shoot the gun could change.

Matt- Eliminating cross firing can be a great advantage. What exactly are the advantages of shooting with two eyes other than keeping both eye in a naturally relaxed condition?

Pat--Wasn't looking for an arguement, was simply asking. For what its worth, i'm a 1 & 1/2 eyed shooter. I use a dot on my left lens. The advantages in my mind would be:

    1)full perefial vision

    2)relaxed eyes as you stated

3)full 100% depth perception(i know not needed when trap shooting)

4)get to remove the blasted dot in my way.

I don't think that you need to change the POI once you begin closing your off eye, but a quick trip to the patterning board is a good way to be sure that you are still shooting where you thought that you were shooting. Always good for the confidence.

I am a 1 eyed shooter..and always have been.. My hold point is lower than most.. as it gives me a very clear space to see the target.. and promotes my swing..

From the 27 I hold in the middle of the house.. NOT the roof... From the 16 I hold about 1 foot back from the front of the roof.. Doubles.. just over the lip of the front of the roof..

Tracy, I shot two eyed for forty years but made the change about three years ago. I have raised my POI by about ten percent from where I was. I can't close my off eye so after experimenting with all the different taping styles I settled on the magic dot, all the others seemed to cause glare at different times.........Ken Jeffries
