Hedge fund executive Hunter Biden has had anything but a quiet introduction to his career in finance.
The 38-year-old son of Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden is caught up in several lawsuits regarding the acquisition and operation of Paradigm Companies, an investment firm that operates a fund of funds - a hedge fund that invests in other hedge funds.
Biden also appears to be feuding with partner James Park, the son-in-law of the Rev. Sun Myoung Moon, Court papers show.
Biden, also a Washington lobbyist, took control of Paradigm in August 2006 and was, for a brief period, its president - getting paid $1.2 million a year despite no experience in the sector, according to charges in one of the suits.
Months later, Anthony Lotito, a consultant, sued Biden, James Biden, his uncle, and Paradigm for allegedly cheating Lotito out of fees related to the purchase. Biden has denied the charges and the suit is awaiting trial.

Sen. Biden’s Daughter Arrested in Altercation
LA Times August 04, 2002 in print edition A-15
The daughter of Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.) was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer outside a Chicago bar.
Ashley Blazer Biden, 21, of Wilmington, Del., was with a group of people on a North Side street where several bars are located when someone else threw a bottle at an officer, police said.
When police tried to arrest another person, Biden blocked the officer’s path and made intimidating statements, officer JoAnn Taylor said.
Biden was later released and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 20.
Sen. Biden’s spokeswoman, Margaret Aitken, declined to comment, calling it a private, family matter.

WASHINGTON -- When Joe Biden's brother and son wanted to buy a hedge fund company two years ago, they turned for financing to a law firm that had lobbied the Delaware senator's office on an important piece of business in Congress -- and in fact had recently benefited from his vote. The firm promised James and Hunter Biden that it would invest $2 million, and quickly delivered half of it.

That arrangement eventually fell through, and the firm's money was returned. But the investment highlighted the close ties between the Biden family and SimmonsCooper, an Illinois law firm that specializes in representing asbestos victims -- a multimillion-dollar line of business that was under threat in Congress.
In addition to providing financing for the hedge fund deal, SimmonsCooper picked the law firm of another of Biden's sons, Beau, to work with it on dozens of asbestos cases in Delaware. "It was only natural that we worked with my friend Beau Biden and his firm," said Jeffrey Cooper, former managing partner of SimmonsCooper.

And SimmonsCooper employees have donated about $200,000 to Biden's campaign efforts since 2001, making the firm his No. 1 donor. All told, SimmonsCooper employees provided much more money to Biden than to any other senator during that period, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics

I find it very interesting that Joe Biden and family have some "private matters" but anyone and everyone else who is faced with trial and tribulations of life are fair game ... Typically Politicians try to take anything and everything they think they can run with and use it for the betterment of themself and against the opposition ... We had a Candidate that was cheating on his wife as she battles the ravages of cancer and thats supposed to be acceptable ..? We had Slick Willie who tried to convert the White House into his own personal whore house and the Democrates obviously feel thats acceptable, we don't have to mention Ted Kennedy because God is in the process of taking care of that ... I guess there are a lot of us who can Thank God we are not Politically inclined because it looks like any and all rules are made to be broken unless its used against someone in particular for a particular reason ... Initially, I was voting for McCain because of those he is running against, now I'm voting for McCain because of who he is running with ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I was going to vote for McCain even before he chose Palin as his running mate. Now it's just icing on the cake.

By the way, should we just turn our backs on the hate speech above, just because we're agreeing on who to vote for?

    Bill,

I have to with Joe Lieberman's comments during his speech last night. There are lots of good Americans in the Democrat Party. The problem is that the radical left has taken over the control of te Party and have installed people like Nancy Pelosi and cooked the nomination process so that Obama's leftwing student groupies were able to take over the causcuses in the early, small states.

This allowed him to build enough of a lead so that even though Hilary slaughtered him in the large, more conservative state Democrat primaries, he snuck in and stole the nomination because there was no way the Super Delegates were not going to vote for a black candidate. Had Obama been white and performed like he did in the big states, the Party would have told him to stand aside and let Hillary have the nomination rather than have a weak candidate in the General election.

With McCain being a lot closer to Harry Truman than to even Ronald Reagan, many Democrats will have no problem pulling the lever for a true American patriot with proven leadershp capabilities rather than a two bit crook from the Chicago political machine.

fearlessfain(or is it fearfulfain) Are you lost in a time warp? I saw many of your ilk in thye 70s. I get tired of your wimpy @$$ed comments about McCain. All you gutless liberals can ever do is call people war mongers if they propose any type of military action. You wouldn't know evil if it ran over you and certaiunly would never have the guts to confront it! You are another gutless french style surrender monkey! You are not fit to shine the shoes of McCain or any other war veteran! Don't worry. The military doesn't want your gutless chicken butt so you are safe!

    Listen carefully.

If you own a firearm, and paid any attention to the Heller decision by the Supreme Court then you have little choice in who you vote for come November.

It is suggested that the next president will appoint as many as three Supreme Court Justices. With Heller carrying at 5 to 4 (minimally it should have been 7 to 2) a change in one judge could take your guns away.

Say what you like - truth be told I'm not a big fan of McCain (although Palin has impressed me, albeit we've had very little exposure to her) and many Republican pundits have suggested we help vote Obama in - four fast years and the Democrats will be out for years to come owing to his foolishness (think Jimmy Carter II), but it's not worth risking a court more unfriendly to firearms.

    Food for thought.
