My buddy at work got an old mec 650. He wants to know if you can upgrade from the old long primer tube to the newer automatic one? Does anybody have 1 around to sell that upgraded to the bigger one?

    hello,

Both the 100+ and the 200+ can be installed on the 650, On all the loaders I sell I install the 100+ but some people like the 200+ better. The 100+ is about 40.00 and the 200+ is 60.00 give or take.
    thanks
    lee

The upgraded primer feeders both work well, I'd use the large version as once you get it adjusted properly it's a lot more user friendly. My biggest problem was getting the drop right, takes a little fiddling , well worth it.

I have an old MEC 650 that is still knocking them out in style. The upgrade to a 100 primer tray was nothing but good. Take your time and don't hesitate to adjust the drop tube setting from time and you can look forward to many years of sevice from this old work horse. sshotshell

My 650 is now 44 years old,and still cranking. In addition to the 200 primer tray, you should consider a new wooden handle, powder baffle and bottle support. Each additon has made loading that much easier.

Get the wooden handle, what a world of difference it makes.

tsosin - Help me with the bottle support. Why? What does it do? What's the problem it's fixing?

The bottle support is for the oversize bottle, if you fill the oversized bottle with shot & it is un supported it could break @ the threads--big mess. Unless you do a lot of high volume loading-you don't need it---a 650 is just fine with the standard size bottles, 100 primer traye---but the wood handle is a definite plus.

    Mrskeet410,

I find that it's much easier to make adjustment during loading, or changing the bushing if I cant tilt the upper part of the machine and that the bottle support helps.

A tip I got off this web site was to leave only enough room for a business card between the drop tube and the carrier. Thanks who ever posted that tip. I also like my D style shovel handle for less hand fatigue. Omaha

I have 2 MEC 650's and on one I put an oversized bicycle grip over the small hard plastic handle. The other I have the wooden handle sold by MEC. Both work out well. The oversized bicycle handle is softer and easy on the palm. By the way, dollar for dollar, can't beat a 650. Been loading on mine for almost 30 years without any major loading issues. Darrell
