I just paid $39 for a bag of shot at Guns Galore. Gander Mountan I hear is $45 a bag. The clerk predicted it to be over $50 within the next month. This has got to be killing are sport. It seems like reclaiming shot is a no brainer shoot it, than pick it back up, and shoot it again. Who cares how high the price of lead goes.I am so tempted to take a flat shovel and a 5 gallon bucket out and see what I can pick up myself.I know some of you have tried that how did it work? Trap shooters like hardened shot because it doesn't deform wouldn't that mean that it would still be round sitting out there on the ground? It seems to me if we want to keep or sport healthy some changes need to be made. To keep this a family sport and incourage women and youths we should look for ways to make shooting more afordable. How about ranges set up that can capture the shot? You could use rubber roofing spread out and grade the ground to help pick it up. How about shooting some place with a big concrete area like a shut down airforce base. I say let China pay the high price for lead and we'll reuse what we've already bought.

I am going to buy a shotmaker. I have a place where I can get wheel weights for $20 a bucket any time I want. I figure a bucket is around 100lbs this makes the price .20 a pound and once it is turned into shot it will be about $5 a bag. I do not count my time for anything, since I don't mind doing things like that especially when it saves me so much money.

Yup, I'm starting to panic, I just counted and I'm down to 125 bags of reclaimed shot!:)

I have a shotmaker, haven't fired it up yet. Lead around here is .70/pound, reclaimed shot is up to $15/bag. So with time and labor it's a wash.

Down to 32 pounds of Promo too! Need to order another 32 pounds to be safe there also!:

Whatever you do, don't start shooting steel shot. I'm perfectly content to pay my $1/# and not have all you lead guys/gals muck it up! (LOL)

I was thinking of something on the lines os one of these. I have been poking around the fall zone. bucket buy bucket is a pain. but if you got spare time it works out just ok. Ive got 60lbs or so that need fine cleaning. I think Im going to smelt it and run it thru a shot maker. Soon to be had.

I just got back from Gander and their Red and Green Dot was $199.00 for 8 lb. I asked if it was miss marked but ther said no. Went to a sporting goods store near by and found it for $125.00. They said powder was also going up.

SHANGHAI (Interfax-China) -- Lead futures on the London Metal Exchange soared to an all-time high last Friday at $2,540 a tonne amid concerns that China, the world's largest lead producer, will reduce its exports of refined lead, thus tightening the world's supply. Check the website above. Ron

In southern Minnesnowta (Ahlmans) $29.99 bag until he runs out. I figure he has about 60 -80 bags of 8's & 7.5's each.

I've never seen reclaimed shot for sale. Does anybody know where it's available in southeast Mi.

Anonymous: I can even top that. At Bass Pro in Kansas City, Saturday, July 28, shot price was $54.99. My son was with me and neither of us could believe what we were seeing. Myy comment at that time,"I guess this is where I quit trapshooting".
