Old double gun Identify/Value

    It is a German gun, made in Hanover (now in the state of Lower Saxony).

    The barrels are made of "fluid compressed steel" in a process developed by Sir Joseph Whitworth, a British engineer. These high-grade barrels were adopted by Purdey as early as 1877, but were adopted much later by other manufacturers. L C Smith, for example, introduced them around 1895 or 1900.

    I don't have any idea how old this gun is, though.

    There are a few guns available by Scherping. Google "H. Scherping shotgun" and you'll see them.
