Thank GOD we now have the majority goverment we deserve. As of yesterday may2/11 the sleez ball vote grabing oppertunistic ANTIGUN liberals & ndpr's are out. Prime Minester Harper was elected to a 4 year term with amajority conservative goverment (rep.in usa) He has many times promised to get rid of the usless multi milion dollar long gun registry if He gets a majority goverment. If this comes about Canada to my knoledge will be the first developed contry to reverse its stupid gun laws & focus on the real problem fighting crime not guns. We have something better than a constituion giving the rite to bear arms, we now have sound strong leaders with some BRAINS.

From another board. At least this Canadian has it figured out.

    From "Canuck 223"

"Not all polls are fully counted, but it looks like we have a Conservative Majority gov't.

The separatist Bloc Quebecois has been decimated.

The Liberal Party have been reduced to third party status.

The New Democratic Party have become the official opposition.

The scary part is the NDP gains. They are socialist to the core. The bad news is tempered with good news.

While the NDP made massive gains, they have no ground team or experienced members. They are faced with 20 veteran MP's having to coach 80 newbies. They are also centered in Quebec, mostly as a protest vote. This will crush the soveriegntist movement, and in the long term good for Canada.

For gun owners, it's looking good. The Conservatives have pledged to kill the long gun registry. With a big enough majority, we may be able to clean up and reform much of the Firearms Act with a bill that was killed in the minority parliment."

    Also,

    " Now when I said the NDP were socialists, I wasn't kidding. The preamble to their constitution reads;

"The principles of democratic socialism can be defined briefly as: That the production and distribution of goods and services shall be directed to meeting the social and individual needs of people within a sustainable environment and economy and not to the making of profit; To modify and control the operations of the monopolistic productive and distributive organizations through economic and social planning. Towards these ends and where necessary the extension of the principle of social ownership;"

Sounds just like Our New Democratic party.

The news networks in Canada (the ones I receive) are much like what we see in the states; CNN, NBC and so on, pretty much in the back pocket of the left.

You would think that Harper was antichrist the way they talk about him!

Listening to radio and watching TV broadcast out of Canada leading up to the election you would have never known it was going to be a blowout.

Last night after results were reported some of the news commentators looked as if they were going to cry.

Also, It was rare if not impossible last night to see a conservative being interviewed.

For those not familiar with Canada elections. The majority party for the next four years can pretty much pass what they want, unless the courts interceed. Think of the House of Representatives where a one vote majority is all you need to pass a bill.

Joe, the majority paty can indeed pass pretty much what they want, but it still has to pass the senate, and I'm not sure if there is a Conservative majority there or not. If not, there soon will be. Thank God the average Canadian outside of Quebec didn't listen to the MSM, and voted to strengthen our country. We now have the ability to do what is necessary for the country to continue to prosper. I just hope the extremist element of the party is held in check, or there could be a huge backlash in four years, and we could see a Conservative party meltdown comparable to the Liberal meltdown of this election.

I would'nt be to cocky if I were Harper. I believe the Canadian people will be watching closely, They have to listen to the people or pay for it in five years perhaps as badly as the liberals and Block did this round.I rather hope they do good for our great nation and not just good for their BUDDIES! ONGUARD WE STAND!

Congratulations to Canada, we can only pray for a similar outcome in the US. By all appearances Obama doesn't like Harper, another plus for our side.

Robert, Prime Minister Stephen Harper is an economist AND a conservative, so no...I don't suppose he and Obama have much to chat about....certainly not about how to actually earn a buck through hard work and then how to take care of said buck....
