I discovered this shell in a brand new box of .410 gauge Winchester shells.

It appears that the brass was blackened before the primer was inserted.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Probably got dropped in a batch of hulls that were to be blackened for the .410 defense loads (for the judge).
