I asked for Obama's position on gun control. Here is the message I received from his staff....I assume:

    Dear Friend,

Thank you for contacting me about gun laws and the Second Amendment. I
appreciate hearing from you on this important issue. Americans broadly
agree that guns must be kept from those who may pose a threat, and that
the rights of legitimate hunters and sportsmen should be protected.

We must work to ensure that guns do not fall into the hands of
criminals or the mentally ill through an effective background check system. We also have to strike a reasonable balance between public safety and sportsmen's rights.

I will continue to work for effective gun laws, including reinstatement
of the assault weapons ban that the last Congress allowed to expire, and
effective law enforcement. I will also speak out against the culture of
violence that traps so many of our young people.

Thank you again for contacting me on this important issue.

    Sincerely,

    Barack Obama

Please note; "the right to bear arms shall not be infringed", was not mentioned. The only rights mentioned were, "hunters and sportsman's rights".-Jerald Ware

So I guess what he is saying is that hunters and sportsmen don't have the right to use any kind of semi-automatic gun in the name of striking a balance. We will all be shooting pumps if Obama gets in. Check out

    http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Barack_Obama_Gun_Control.htm

Where he says, "Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions
Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:
Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms."

This Mulim extremist is a gun grabber of the highest order.

The reinstatement of the assault Weapon Ban he said he supports means he is also for banning pump rifles and shotguns. The renewal had language to start banning them as well. He's also gone on record stating that urban folks don't need guns and should not own them, but he reluctantly says rural people might be "allowed" to have them because of crime. (Shows how out of touch he really is.)

Agreed, Brian. Not much difference in the parties these days. At least Fred Thompson is visiting gun shows. Wouldn't you like to see a main stream democrat do that? LOL

A main stream Democrat visited trap ranges last election.

I wasn't very impressed by it.

I have found over the years that most Politicians will try to tell you what they think you want to hear, other than that they are telling lies if their mouths are moving ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

A mainsteream Republican, Mike Huckleberry, visited a skeet field (Spartanburg Gun Club) three weeks ago. He chipped two of seven targets.

I wasn't very impressed by it. LOL!!

Fact: Obama supported the CONFISCATION of firearms when he was an IL State Senator adn voted for the failed IL semi auto ban that also would have banned ALL shotguns larger than .410

Fact: Clinton was an early advocate and co-sponsor of Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's
HR 1022 that would essentially ban anything from a 10/22 on up. She signed on in Feb. 2007

Does ANYONE on this forum actually believe ANY Democrat won't be coming after your firearms, ammunition, components, the WHOLE PACKAGE.?????
That's my personal FIRST issue. All other questions pale behind the fundamental right to keep and bear arms. It's not the SECOND Amendment for nothing folks. Our founders understood the importance...we should too.
