    2dumb/deckart,

Your problem is you can't think. Only a troll would post such an ignorant post on a shooting site.

2str8, the only "retard" when it comes to gun rights is OBAMA. Don't you have a knitting or "dems are us" site to go to? I really don't understand how a Democrat can be pro-gun when their boy is OBAMA.

Buy your guns now and hide em. Even if the clown (Obama) doesn't take your guns away you won't have money to buy new ones or ammo.

He is going to raise taxes all across the board. Income tax (you work?), capital gains tax(you got a 401k, a home, or any stock) dividend tax increase, social security tax increase, medicare tax increase, and on and on.

Vote Republican, Libertarian, anybody but Obama. The man doesn't have a clue.

2STR8 the only thing you will get straight is the Obama agenda straight up your ass. If you think Bush is terrible Hussein will be much much worse. Tax and spend baby. This country will be a socialist country before he gets done. And don't think that is an exaggeration. If you really like his "plan" for this countries future and his background you just as well get use to socialistic ideas and government. He is not worthy of any position in this countries government let alone commander in chief.

I posted this in another thread but I think it's appropriate for this thread as well:

Here is the case against Obama if we're talking guns:

    1) Obama was a member of the Board of Directors of the Joyce Foundation for eight years. This foundation handed out grants to over 1500 causes during his tenure there. Of those 1500 causes that the Joyce Foundation funded, 9 grants were aimed at funding ventures that were clearly anti-gun. One such grant funded the publication of a book entitled, “Every Handgun Is Aimed at You: The Case for Banning Handguns.” Obama sat on the board from 1996-2002. The foundation does not keep records on how individual members of the board voted on funding requests so we do not know whether or not Obama personally voted yes for these 9 funding requests--though many of the 1500 requests that the board voted on over Obama's eight-year tenure were approved unanimously.

You can read an entire article devoted to this specific subject on Politico.com here: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0408/9722.html

“I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns. What I think we can provide is common-sense approaches to the issue of illegal guns that are ending up on the streets.” Barack Obama April 2008 during ABC Primary Debate.

The Politico article highlights Obama's indirect connection to some pretty anti-gun ideas but even the contributors to the article admit that the link is tenuous at best.

I HIGHLY recommend that everyone on this board read this article. It is not pro-Obama. In fact, it is quite the contrary. I ask you to read it because the facts are clearly laid out and no conclusions are drawn. It will be a refreshing reprieve from the rubbish found on this board and in this thread.

    2) "Voted 'No' on letting people claim a self-defense protection in court for using a gun in their homes despite local weapons bans. (SB2165, 2004)" Obama voted against this measure not because he opposes an individuals right to protect him or herself, rather, he voted against the measure because of the far reaching implications the bill's wording would have on the right of individual municipalities to legislate their own gun-laws. Obama said, "That law eviscerated anti-handgun ordinances in some communities,...The way I feel, Wilmette should not determine Mattoon's firearms ordinances and Mattoon should not determine Wilmette's."

"Voted 'Yes' on letting retired police and military police carry concealed weapons. (SB2188, 2004)" This speaks for itself.

The supporting documentation for the above statements can be found from the Associated Press September 11, 2004 and in the Chicago Tribune from October 8, 2004. A summation can be found at: http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/2/16/22186/4153

    3) Barack Obama in an interview from April 22, 2007 on Radio Iowa said, "The problem that we've had is that the overwhelming majority of gun owners use those firearms safely, secure them properly and I think would be amenable to reasonable gun control laws. The NRA's attitude has been that any restriction is an infringement on the rights of gun owners and you know because of the breadth of their membership and the large amounts of money that they have at their disposal, I think they are oftentimes able to scare law-abiding gun owners into thinking that Democrats are going to take away their rights and part of what I think we have to communicate is that we are committed to maintaining the rights of lawful gun owners, but that doesn't contradict the need to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill or put limits on the accessibility of semi-automatic weapons or make sure that straw purchasers aren't dumping firearms into our inner cities."

The text of the entire interview can be found at http://learfield.typepad.com/radioiowa/2007/04/clinton_edwards.html

----The reality is that Barack Obama's real position on guns is pretty clear... He believes in an individual right to bear arms that is protected by the 2nd amendment.

He believes that while an individual's right to bear arms is protected, state and preferably local governments have the authority to restrict ownership where they see fit.

In nearly all cases he believes that guns should be regulated locally and not federally.

He is not determined to take away our guns, he is concerned with how and why illegal firearms find their way into the inner-city and are then used in crimes--mostly drug related--that work to tear down communities and destabilize local neighborhoods.

He thinks that the NRA is unfair in its assessment of candidates on guns and seeks to clarify misconceptions about his position on the issue--misconceptions that have found their way here.

I care whether or not a candidate wants to restrict my ability to shoot trap, hunt, fish and participate in other outdoor sports. I don't see any evidence that Barack Obama wants to do any of those things. On the contrary, I think his record, his statements and his writings support his claim that he is a pro-sportsmen candidate who will protect the right of individuals to bear arms.

Walker, you are nothing more than an apologist for an anti-gun Marxist with ZERO qualifications for anything other than being a pizza delivery boy. You were doubtlessly sent here as an Obamabot to try to fool real gunowners about the Empty Suit that the leftwing Democrats have promoted into being nominated. Why don't you go over to dkos with the rest of your kind and quit befouling this proshooting forum with you worthless anti-gun/anti-American tripe? Quit your liberal trolling and no, I am not going to waste any more pixels on a poster not anymore important than a pile of dog s**t so don't expect any more responses from me.

    Brooks,
I'm a Christian apologist but not an Obama apologist. I like to think of myself as a seeker of truth and a defender of fact. Unfortunately, in this forum, the majority of mis-information and skewing of the facts are in reference to candidate Obama. Were there as many un-truths about candidate McCain on this board as there are for his opponent, I would be doing the same research and posting on his behalf as well.

You say that Obama is an anti-gun Marxist who is qualified to only be a pizza delivery boy. You don't back up your claims with anything other than hateful rhetoric and ad-hominem attacks. I, on the other hand, have clearly laid out the facts and have cited as well. Obama is not anti-gun and he's not a Marxist. He is liberal in his social ideology, fairly liberal in his fiscal ideology and moderate on his foreign policy ideology. When it comes to matters of the Constitution and Federalism, Obama is as conservative a Democrat as we've ever seen.

I was not sent here as an Obamabot. I came here because I started shooting again and I had enjoyed this community in the past when I was more active with the ATA.

I'm not spouting the "liberal tripe" you claim. I'm just interjecting some reasoned fact into a discussion that seems to have none. The pervasive ignorance that a small minority of the members here spout is disgusting.

As for your insults toward me... I don't hold them against you. Its frustrating being made a fool of (though, Mr. Brooks, you do a fine job of that on your own...). I'll say again... I'm not anti-gun or anti-American. I love Trap, I'm an avid hunter, I'm NRA and I believe in the 2nd Amendment. I also believe in the 1st amendment which is why I have no issue with you voicing your opinions, mis-guided and unsupported as they may be. I only take issue with the way you attack those who don't think like you.

I love my country and its people. Even those people like you...

    God Bless,

    Walker

P.S. I won't expect any more responses from you... but remember, you're always welcome to chime in at anytime.

P.P.S I may value and love you as a human being and a fellow American, but I'd give you the worst white-flash of your life if you called me a piece of sh*t in person.

    Walker,

Here is a quote from your "sportsman" candidate, "I am not in favor of concealed weapons," Obama said. "I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations."

    http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/s_560181.html

I don't know about you, but I think that I can and should protect my family. If that means having a gun on me, then that is what it SHOULD be. It's funny that politicians think that they are more important as they have ARMED guards with them at all time. Just how am I to be protected equally?? Is my life or that or a family member of mine

Please tell me why he thinks "local" gun control is good? Are you/he saying that the local can override the national(Constitution) controls just because they don't like them or think they are right?

    Walker,

I don't know where you've been hanging out, and what media you've been listening to, but you have just posted the most inaccurate statement of this presidential election.

Hussein Obama is the most liberal senator in the senate.

BTW, no true Christian supports or defends an extremely pro-abortion candidate.

    BigDog,
Obama voted Yes on legislation that permitted retired police and military police to carry concealed weapons. I read the quote when he was campaigning in PA. He also said the same thing in Iowa as well. I don't know why he supports concealed carry for retired law enforcement and not all citizens. My guess is that it might have to do with training? Its just a guess. I don't have an opinion on concealed carry. If it were legal in my area, I wouldn't exercise the right, so its a non-issue for me.

Obama thinks that the right of the individual to keep and bear arms should be protected by the Federal government but that the legislation of gun ownership should be a local issue. Despite being a Democrat, Obama favors local control of gun ownership because then local communities can decide how stringent regulations should be. A federal law that limits gun ownership in the inner-city applies to downtown Austin, TX as much as it does the slums of Chicago. Any reasonable person can see that gun crime in Austin is much lower than it is in Chicago--and, thus, gun regulations in Austin can be more liberal than in Chicago. By keeping the responsibility of legislating gun regulations at the local level, individuals have a bigger voice in the process and legislation can be crafted that best applies to that community. Rarely, does Federal legislation of traditionally local issues ever in the best interest of the populace.

    Paladin,
You only got half the quote. What I said was, "When it comes to matters of the Constitution and Federalism, Obama is as conservative a Democrat as we've ever seen."

This is true. Obama does not favor tinkering with the Constitution--gay marriage ban, abortion, death penalty etc. When it comes to Federalism (Federal vs. States Rights), Obama sides overwhelmingly with the States--a very conservative stance. In fact, Obama goes one step further and says that he favors municipal legislation over State legislation. He is not the socialist, marxist, liberal (which means that he would favor big government over little government) that some members of this forum purport him to be. Rather, his own statements and voting record indicate that he prefers to keep power in the hands of the people--a truly democratic concept: even more democratic than representative government.

Not only are some trapshooters Democrats, but apparently they're quite delusional too. Especially when comments like Obama being a conservative Democrat and doubts of his wanting to ban guns are raised. Liberal trapshooters who empower gun banners is why so many in the gun community laugh at and call those in shotgun sports "Fudds". You give pro-gun shotgun shooters a bad name.

    Paladin,
I'm sorry, I was remiss in responding to your comment about Christians supporting pro-abortion candidates. First, I've read my NIV Life Application Bible cover to cover each year for the past 5-years and I don't recall reading any scripture that says that I'm not a Christian unless I only support Anti-Abortion candidates. I mean, Dr. Dobson keeps telling me that, but the last I checked, there is nothing in Revelation that says that Dr. Dobson will be doing the judging after the second coming. Now I love Focus on the Family and I listen almost everyday (though I must admit I prefer Weekend Magazine over the daily broadcast) but I disagree with Dr. Dobson on this issue. In my heart I know that Abortion is wrong, but to me it is more wrong for a government that is comprised of mostly men to legislate what women can and cannot do with their bodies. Abortion is not an option in my household but it also not an issue for the government to be legislating.

As a side-note, I'm sure you are a proponent of the liberal use of the death penalty and you probably think we should just vaporize the Middle East and keep the oil for ourselves... how do you reconcile those positions with the humanist teachings of Christ?

FACT-Obama has OPENLY called for the BANNING of ALL semi auto firearms(that's your 391 Beretta, your 1100 or your daddy's old Model 11 or Auto-5 Browning or your kids .22)! He is AGAINST Conceled carry by private citizens. He has voted FOR every restrictive gun law that has EVER come up for a vote, as well as voting AGAINST every single bit of pro gun legeslation! He has claimed (very recently) to be a supporter of the second ammendment(probably for the same reason that his mother enrolled him in a Christian school even though he was raised Muslim)! Anybody who thinks this Commie/Socialist is friendly to Gun ownership is a FOOL!!!
