I wish him luck trying to enforce such a ban on firearms, I might even turn all mine in once I am out of ammunition.

I happen to oppose such a treaty, but have you people forgotten the US Senate has to ratify any treaties the US wants to enter into with any other country? Obama can't just "sign a treaty" and surprise us all with its terms. Doesn't work that way. Remember the concept of "checks and balances" we all learned about in grade school? Still there.

The cited news article does not state that this treaty applies internally to a nation, only for arms import and export., the gist being military arms control. While I don't doubt what is being said about this being a backdoor attempt to regulate and ban guns by US citizens, I'd like to see "the smoking gun" that makes this possible via this treaty.

Brian is right. This has to do with international arms trade and trafficing.

It needs to be passed by 2/3s vote. If only 10 show up to vote thinking it's not important and 8 vote to pass it's law. Also if the treaty is passed it supersedes our constitution, any treaty does. Ex. indian reservations, by treaty they are a sovern nation, police can only go on the property by invitation. Thats why they can have casinos in places where gambling is illegle. If we are to follow what ever the other countrys say we have to we just might lose our constitution. I checked this on the web just last night and it was split 50-50 as to us loosing our constitution. This is very frighting. How many people read what they are voting on in full?

Oh, for pity's sake, the required number of Senators present to do business is 51. It's what's called a "quorum". See link above.

We, the people, elected an idiot in Nov. of 2008. He will still be an idiot in 2012. There is no "hope" that he will "change".

Don't forgot what idiots are in the Senate and House right now. They are dumb enough to ratify the treaty. Voting in Republicans in 2010 is a start but it will not be soon enough. The damage has been or is being done right now. We will never be able to get this shit turned around.

The Second Amendment and any other the Moonbats want to attack has been trumped by the EPA's first attempt at controlling humankind.

They have just classified CO2 as being harmful substance. Our Supreme Court gave them that power this summer and they are using CO2 as a trial balloon to flex their new muscles. They will have the power to curtail fossil fuel electric generation, classify your guns as a harmful device, lead usage will be strictly controlled, gun powder's gone, and on and on and on, 'til everything is controlled by a central party currently called the EPA.
